Evangelical leader takes on Beck for assailing social justice churches

An evangelical leader is calling for a boycott of Glenn Beck's television show and challenging the Fox News personality to a public debate after Beck vilified churches that preach economic and social justice.

The Rev. Jim Wallis, president of Sojourners, a network of progressive Christians, says Beck perverted Jesus' message when he urged Christians last week to leave churches that preach social and economic justice.

Beck told his audience that they should leave churches that preach "economic and social justice." Wallis says Beck compared those churches to Communists and Nazis.

Wallis says at least 20,000 people have already responded to his call to boycott Beck. He says Beck is confusing his personal philosophy with the Bible.

"He wants us to leave our churches, but we should leave him," Wallis says of Beck. "When your political philosophy is to consistently favor the rich over the poor, you don't want to hear about economic justice."

I congradulate this guy for his courage. He is a strong man to take on a media right-wing icon. Glenn Beck is an absolute moron and is mentally unstable.

I like the idea of a church that is not in support of this boob.
However it is said that anyone who chooses to argue with a moron is another moron.

That is why I never jumped on the Beck Bandwagon, so to speak.

Even though he baited Libertarians and Constitutionalists into being his audience, it is quickly becoming apparent to many people that he is actually trying to HIJACK things and lead us into negativity again.

He tries very hard to act like one of us normal folk, but the reality that he works for big corporations and pulls the "party line" shows.

He is merely a wolf in sheep clothing.

You can tell by the way he foams at the mouth.

There is a whole slew of them going after the moron for this including the Mormon church.

The hypocrisy of this Papal call for a redistribution of the world’s wealth is astounding. As the leader of the richest institution on the face of the earth,

As he professes to be so concerned about the world’s poor, and as he professes to be the head of the “one true Church” on earth, he should immediately put into practice the words of the Lord Jesus to the rich young man: “Go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor” (Matt. 19:21). He should immediately instruct his priests worldwide to sell the “Church” of Rome’s vast treasures, its cathedrals and church buildings, its priceless artworks, its stocks in innumerable corporations, its factories and other businesses, its real estate, and all the other things that have made it so astoundingly wealthy. For anyone who espouses the seperation of church and state,this should be a warning.

There is a bigger agenda going on here.

All I can say is,"All roads lead to Rome!"

To think they are not behind this is ignorance,as all denominations pretty much bow down to Rome,whether they know it or not.

The World Council of Churches frequently speaks out against capitalism, but is silent about the countless atrocities committed over the decades by communist dictatorships. According to one website that informs the public on the World Council of Churches, "Though denying charges of pro-communism, the World Council of Churches track record is a long and consistent testimony to the fact that they are one of communism's strongest and best allies."

Pope Benedict XVI called for a “true world political authority” to manage the economy in his new encyclical on SOCIAL JUSTICE. The encyclical, entitled “Charity in Truth,” was released by the Vatican on Tuesday and signed by the pope a day earlier.

Benedict’s encyclical specifically called for “regulation of the financial sector,” and a “WORLDWIDE REDISTRIBUTION of energy resources.” Benedict added that “the State’s role seems destined to grow” if his political prescription is followed.

“There is urgent need of a true world political authority,” Benedict wrote in the 30,000-word encyclical, calling for “reform of the United Nations Organization, and likewise of economic institutions and international finance, so that the concept of the family of nations can acquire real teeth.”

Benedict described what a powerful world government with teeth would look like: “Such an authority would need to be universally recognized and to be vested with the effective power to ensure security for all.” He added: “Obviously it would have to have the authority to ensure compliance with its decisions from all parties” — that is, nations.

At best, Benedict is proposing a global federation that would improve upon the U.S. Constitution’s checks and balances. “Such an authority would need to be regulated by law, to observe consistently the principles of subsidiarity,” Benedict says.
