Children can get a wrong idea about relationships and reality if they are introduced to porn at a too early age. I have no idea about what age a person must be before it can understand what porn really is and about.

That is not true at all.

I am currently 24 years old and I saw porn for the first time at the age of ten. The men around me who tend to be more "sexually conservative" also tend to have attitudes towards woman like they are second-class-citizens.

Come to Circleville Ohio and just stay for a while to see what I mean.

The women in this community are literally bred for nothing more than child-rearing, laundry, dish-washing, and basic house cleaning. I have heard over and over again from men here that America is going to hell since they allowed women to vote.

A lot of these guys don't even look at porn.

Looking at porn at the age of ten did not shape any wrong "idea" about reality for me. On the contrary, I have found that many of the women I know tend to be very sexually inhibited for fear of being labeled as a "whore" which is something that I cannot stand.

The only thing that I have learned is that sex is Ok, and that my body is Ok.

pornography is sin and sin is pleasurable for a season.
BUT,the price you pay for that sin,is eternal.

Do you believe the handicapped guy I mentioned, who spends some time before sleeping having a wank while he drools over the bra ad pages, is going to hell?

If not, where do you draw the line?

I think it all depends on how young people are introduced to porn and whether they are smart enough to tell the difference between reality and fantasy. The biggest danger porn (and many other forms of entertainment for that matter) poses is that people will not be able to differentiate the fantasies porn portrays from real life.

If young people are given critical thinking skills and are able to make these distinctions, porn is less harmful. On the other hand, if young people think porn is real and what happens in porn is what they should expect in their own sex lives, porn is harmful.

I think sex ed classes should address porn. Little Johnny is more likely to come into contact with porn before he turns 14 than he is to come into contact with a girl before he turns 16. Just as kids are taught to have safe sex in sex ed, they should be taught safe porn viewing habits. They need to know porn distorts what goes on in real relationships.

ERm Dalan,

Look I really don't want to seem a judgemental kind of person and I do not know much about you but honestly in the UK exposing a child of 10 to porn is judged an act of abuse.

Anyway perhaps sexual perversion is more likely to be found in very restrictive communites such as those that you write about. What we still need to remeber is two things

1) Porn generates strong feelings which seems to generate hidden agenda.

2) We all have an instinctive fear of sexual deviancy and sexual violence but there are always issues of definition.

So two people indulge in say 1hrs porn viewing per day but one goes on to be somehow deviant and the other does not. Why?

I don't have any answers but am glad that sensible research is being done but one paper or researcher does not prove a general theory.

i thought it was a medical finding since it doesn't seem to matter what the woman looks like, how old or young she is, what her race or religion is, how much money she has or doesn't have, how nice or mean she is, and is said to be an inherent component of war violence, where the enemy's women are raped after everyone else is killed. also the fact many rapes end in the death of the rape victim, which suggests the rapist is acting out a violent scenario, where their male member is the weapon, not a sexual fantasy.

As for the insane tits some porn stars get, to a female they're just "ouch," painful to look at. Big boobs are a male fantasy and a female back ache.

Sigh...

While in many instances that tends to be true, I have had this idea for quite sometime now:

I have noticed that the men who are attracted to "big boobs" are usually the kind of men who need their significant others to act like their Mommies. By "Mommies" I mean they want them to cook for them, clean for them, pack their lunches and dote on them as if they were their Mothers.

Breasts nurture children.

I have often wondered if there was a psychological link between the two ie, a man who is attracted to breasts is psychologically attracted to nurturing or "motherly" types.

Food for thought.

It is judged the same in the United States as well.

I didn't feel abused, I mean, it wasn't painful.

I am sorry, but porn is not good for us...
1.Portrays women as sex objects.

Double edged sword isnt it?
It's great till you see your daughter in one, and there's always some guy ready to put her in one.
Yet you never hear the argument that it portrays men as sex objects and there's always some woman ready for the film to roll.

As I wrote earlier, porn is an addiction. When you feed an addiction,
it gets worse. Then it takes more and eventually harder porn to get
the same feelings you felt in the beginning. It is a downward spiral
to oblivion.

People are addicted to Caffeine too. Downward spiral to Oblivion? Read the research before making such a bold statement Not all addictions are necessarily bad.

1.Portrays women as sex objects.

thats because they are. Why else would they wear tight jeans and low cut tops. The only women that ever argue this point are prudes and hags.

2.Gives adolescent girls a negative view about their bodies and shape.
Not everyone can look like a centerfold!

true, but it never hurts to try. and not all porn stars are centerfold material. If theres one thing you could learn from porn it's that guys are into all types of women.

3.In my opinion, porn leads to other sexual deviations.

so you value your own opinion more than this study...and in the face of that will not bend in your opinions....that says a lot about you. do you think that kind of stubborn ignorant mentality is better for young women, or anyone for that matter. opinions are lame. fact.

4.Reduces the sex act to the animal level, not an expression of love.

clearly you're a woman, who else would throw around the word love(a meaningless term) in an attempt to manipulate the male mind and tone of conversation. I'm not buying. sex is a primal act, and the concept of love was invented to sell you lingerie, get used to it.

I understand that some men can't have a normal relationship. These
porn magazines do help in releasing their pent up passions that they
can't seem to control!

amizing how out of touch you are with the male half of society....and to think it's men who always get a bad rap for not understanding women. In reality, its completely opposite...

NEXT!!

The Downside of Porn is that it tends to lure people into thinking that 5 seconds of climaxing at a bunch of Pixels can somehow substitute the depth of a real-life Relationship.

no it doesn't, but then again....
when you're real life relationship happens to be some boring mundane marriage then guess what....it makes a great substitute in the "climax" department. And depth doesn't come from "a relationship" it comes from the people involved in it. Don't assume that because people are together that its anything more then superficial.

your post was confusing. your openly declaring that porn is not bad for relationships, but at the same time claim that it acts as a tonic for boredom in a relationship. seems more logical to me, anyway, that if your relationship is boring you should get busy trying to fix that, not replace it with a substitute? isn't it like running away from the problem, in your scenario, at least?

I'll say it like this.Porn helped me not be so nervous in front of a girl(naked), on how to pleasure her, and it helped me get creative in the bedroom. I'll also say this thoug, I wish I hadn't been shown it as young as I was. To a degree, I had to fight a porn addiction when I was younger because I didn't know how to control my urges ( brought out from being shown those). With age comes grace and have my act together now, but I can't say it was too bad for me, just showed me that like with anything in life you have to have a balance with it; otherwise you'll find yourself deep in the game, but got the rules missin...
