(AP) – New York City has agreed to pay up to $657 million to settle more than 10,000 lawsuits filed by ground zero rescue and response workers who say they were sickened by World Trade Center dust. The settlement was announced tonight by the WTC Captive Insurance Company, a special entity established to indemnify the city and its contractors against potential legal action as they moved to clean up the site.

that's 65,700 for each lawsuit, assuming they were divided evenly. Take about 35% of that for attorney's fees across the board, and that leaves about $ 44,019 each suit.

And that's probably not enough to cover a few visits to the hospital for many of these people, who are lying on their deathbed.

Just great, huh?

Seams like a lot of money to settle on a lawsuit and have one paragraph of information? Would like to know a bit more.
