Well, if situation X is what I think it is, a limited nuclear exchange, society as we know and love it will be no more. I think a lot of people, simply by being in the right place, and having the right supplies, will survive anything like what I describe. But a high order type society like we have now will no longer be viable thing. I think the survivors will gravitate into a tribal way of living, where the young and old are taken care and fed by the others, and perhaps fighting other "tribes" as was before, in times past. History has a way of repeating itself, and proves this all the time.
