Will update the post as more info comes in, but it appears another earthquake just rocked Chile once again.

Santago region is where this is located at. CNN just reported it, but no numbers yet beyond "major"

--update--
CNN is calling it a 7.2

The last one was 8.8

-add: From the CNN website-

Breaking: Strong quake reported in Chile
An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.2 has struck south of Santiago, Chile, the United States Geological Survey reports.

The quake struck near Libertador General Bernardo O'Higgins, Chile, the USGS reported.

This story is currently developing. We'll bring you the latest information from Chile as soon as we get it.

Just saw this reported on CNN, they said it was a 7.2.

Crazy they said it was an aftershock, but 7.2 is pretty big.

I wonder if it will do more damage considering the 8.8 shook a bunch of things loose...sometimes, major aftershocks tend to collapse things moreso than the original quake.
Not sure why they are not reporting more...guess earthquakes are old shoe now.

My God those poor people!
My browser just let me know they got another 7.2.
I'm removing this *earthquake alert* add-on from my Firefox - it's just too creepy.
Those poor souls...

peace

was just thinking...

wouldn't it be interesting if *this* earthquake did produce a major tsunami...how many would ignore the warnings this time around due to the last quake doing pretty much nothing, thereby causing widespread death and all that.

hey...its a conspiracy website..might as well speculate.

I agree, however this one is unlikely to produce a tsunami since this one was located on land.

man i feel bad for the people there. my high school friend is there on holiday with his family, i hope they are ok. i think something is up with the planet either that or there starting to call major earthquakes "after shocks"

would NOT want to be there right now.

I hate to hear this! So sad.

Silo, I have the earthquake add on too. I never realized our earth moved so very much before I installed this.

Those poor people in Chile! And how dangerous the recovery effort becomes, this might scare relief workers from coming.

I will be praying for the people of Chile.

the coast?
looking at my map here, you would have to evacuate all of Chile to get away from the coast.

it said the new president is still going on with the ceremony. the only thing more important than natural disasters is of course politics. heh

Chilian people have their "sealegs". Buildings are built to deal with the rocking of the earth...at least thats what we are told here...but ya, I would be a bit unnerved also.
