An egg.

I think that was in The Hobbit (animated version) too, if I recall...

First you take the roman number twelve, which looks like this: XII

Then you slice it in two horizontally, and the upper half of it looks like this: VII... The roman number for seven!

A ring or bracelet? Both would seem to fit the bill... (but not sure about the top or bottom bit...more of an inside/outside thing)

Ok, how many blocks (2' x 2') would it take to complete a building, if it's 40' long on all four sides, and 20' tall, and the walls are four feet thick?

that would be 20 per side, and 2 blocks thick...

So
Outer wall
20 + 20 + 18 + 18 = 76

Inner wall
18 + 18 + 16 + 16 = 68

76 + 68 = 144 blocks around the building.

You didn't mention how tall a block is so I am assuming either it's 20 feet tall or 2 feet tall.

If the blocks are 2 feet tall, then 144 x 10 = 1440 blocks.

Correct?

Nope.

Hint...REALLY read the exact question...there's a key word there...

That's what I thought myself. What threw me off is the way the question is phrased.

Yep, laying the last block (one) is what "completes" it...

I am something that you give to your beloved.
I have no ending.
I have no beginning.
In the middle, there is... nothing!

What am I?

If so that's ridiculously easy... if not, then nice one
