One More Young Star Dead - Corey Haim Dies Of Drug Overdose

It's being reported that Corey Haim died of a drug overdose and was found dead in his home.

Actor Corey Haim died this morning of an apparent overdose -- possibly accidental -- according to LAPD. He was 38.

Police tell us they were called to St. Joseph's hospital in Burbank, CA shortly before 4AM PT to investigate.

Haim shot to fame in the 80s -- when he co-starred in a number of films, including "The Lost Boys," with Corey Feldman.

Haim reportedly suffered a drug-induced stroke in 2001 and was rushed to the UCLA Medical Center.

Haim also reportedly was in and out of rehab 15 times, but cleaned up in 2004 after moving to Toronto.

Star? Maybe at one time for a short time. To me just somebody who didn't want to join the real world after getting a taste of the Hollywood glitter. I guess not all child stars can be like the girl from Wonder Years, Danica McKella. But they should realize that if you're not going to make it in showbiz, then it's time to make a living in the real world.

I suppose it's a sad confession but I spend far too much time watching movies and tv. lol I work at a Blockbuster and I've picked up the habit of paying attention to movie star names, etc. But anyway... you're very welcome!

Corey Feldman probably isn't too far behind him...

It's got to be a HUGE ego blow for these kid actors to go from the hottest thing to nobodys, especially when you're too young emotionally to deal with it....

Not to mention the exposure to an adult world while you're a kid...

So many child actors have spiraled down the crapper...

At least some seem to climb out of it (Drew Barrymore, for example)....

Just in my short life I've seen so many young stars die, and I think the number that die is out of proportion to the general population.
Yes, of course the death of a celebrity is reported more than any street junky, but still....

People die, and I know a few great people that crashed and burned from when I was in High School. Even some more recently in my life have died.
A couple suicides.
Some misadventure.
Most by how they chose to live. (and die)


I'm not sure I can make a list of stars that died young, but I'll try.
Sure, a lot will be missed, but they all were gone before their time.

Feel free to add to the list, and try to keep it within your lifetime.
I was alive when President Kennedy was shot so I'll keep it on topic of the famous dead that I remember, and only those that self destructed after early fame.

Andrew Koenig - 41 - Suicide

Not all of those were child stars, but all came to fame while they were young. You can include Elvis and Princess Diana as famous people that have died in my life, and many more, but I remember those.

Too many, too young.

Pill bottles retrieved in the apartment of Haim's mother are hydrocodone (Vicodin), diazepam (Valium), haloperidol (an antipsychotic med) and Soma (a muscle relaxer).
