We are NOT abandoning the Moon. I guess no one in here has heard of NASA's not so secret Project M, which is currently underway with a 1000 day plan to put a humanoid robot on the Moon. I spoke with one of the engineers working on this project yesterday, and they are making great progress.

I assume the President will mention this in his official announcement. You can see the NASA animation of Project M here: NASA JSC Project M

Sounds fantastic, thanks for the link!

I think the idea of using robots is awesome. It's the only logical way to explore deep into space, other planets etc without risk of losing life.

I think we will see some fascinating missions with robots in our lifetime for sure!

I think he had cut the budget for a planned mission to send 'man' back to the moon before 2020.

April 15th I think will be a clear indication of the way things are going to go with the space programme.

With countries like India and Japan both investing heavily in their own programmes, i'm sure the USA will have an exciting vision for their future.
