In a closed-door debate by the IAEA’s 35-nation board of governors, Syria reiterated its assertion that the uranium traces came with munitions Israel used to destroy the complex.

arabnews.com...

This sounds like a possible scenario-the uranium could be as a result of Depleted Uranium bombs used to destroy the site in question-However the Syrians should allow inspections if that is the case,as the material could be properly identified and may stop the sabre rattling.

They are still refusing however,so make of that what you will.

They don't, but deflecting attention away from the topic still doesn't excuse the Syrians. They got caught and their defense just doesn't seem in the least bit plausible given the timeline of events and their own refusal to allow anyone to inspect the site.

WTF does Israel's behavior have to do with Syria's own behavior?

You're completely changing the subject.

Stay on topic. Are the arab states EVER responsible for their own actions?

gimmie a break. this is the lamest excuse i've ever heard.

What exactly do the syrians need an excuse for?

An illegal bombing of one of their buildings?

Trust Iran over Isreal?

You're one of those people who will believe ANYthing any arab state tries to pin on ISrael, no matter the COMPLETE absence of any evidence whatsoever.

This, is sad.

You gotta raise you game man.

Syria is a way more repressive and dishonest regime than Israel.

Playing favorites as you do is intellectually untenable.

You're changing the subject again. The Syrians are trying to excuse the fact that nuclear material was found at a suspected weapons site in their country.

It was Israel who bombed syria. Try and keep up. What kind of sense does it make for one country who has illegal weapons to bomb another countries supposed illegal weapons?

What actions? Their right to remain sovereign and refuse inspections?

Nope, but thats not the topic.

Syria got caught with its hand in the cookie jar and this is simply a lame ass attempt at damage control. I mean really why bother at this stage.

Why would the IAF run such a high risk mission, showing the weakness of a state of the art Russian air defence system which no doubt they will work hard to correct, to simulate a nuclear site?

While it may not be the topic its a key component to the argument. If the Syrians are making this claim it would be simple to validate by having IAEA confirm what the israelis used in their munitions. Oh yah can't do that, they are non signatories for the NPT and don't play nice with others. Or in the words of others they might and would impose a lame ass attempt at damage control.

Further whats more disturbing here is how a sovereign nation can be invaded by israel with no global recourse. Irrespective of the meaningless banter from either side, I guess its okey dokey to bomb other nations who the israelis deem as a threat, but allow no inspection on their part or actions. Hypocrites to the extreme and certainly not a nation or people to trust yet alone draw concern for. The same can be said for the Syrians.

The problem here is that we will never have the facts so aside from what little we do know this is pointless speculation.

Deny ignorance indeed. Looks like full steam ahead here.

And you are trying to excuse the fact that the Israelis broke the law by a) destroying syrias nuke facility (supposedly) and b) that israel also illegally has nuclear weapons.

Frankly, this is nothing but racism.

The Israeli nuclear weapons program is not the topic. If you want to discuss the Israeli nuclear weapons program, start a new thread. All you are doing is attempting to divert attention away from the issue, which is the question of who is responsible for the nuclear material found on Syrian soil?

As for your racism taunts, well, it just shows how desperate you are to change the subject.

If you think Israel isnt the topic I suggest you actually read the topic again.

Here let me help you..."Israeli, nuclear, material, jets"

You attempt to separate the actions are intellectually dishonest at best.

You're right and I've clarified that and it was my mistake not to spell it out. Still, the topic is who is responsible for the nuclear material found within Syria. It has very little to do with Israel's nuclear program, which is what you're attempting to divert attention to.

But you've done a good job of completely derailing the thread, which was your intent all along.

Keep up? I'm waaay ahead of you.

You're now talking about a completely separate event. Again, changing the subject.

No way on earth they'd sit on info like that for almost 3 years. and again - lacking any evidence whatsoever. And AGAIN, you are pretending its Israel who's on Syria's back, and not the IAEA - this is bordering on dishonesty on your part, although I won't rule out delusional thinking.

What actions?

Did Israel make Iran gun down peaceful protestors? Did Israel force Syria to imprison and torrture journalist, or political activists? Did Israel force Syria to slaughter Palestinians back in the 70's? Is Israel behind Iran's repressive policies towards homosexuals?

Get real.

Grown ups take responsibility for their own actions.
