Ever wonder why there is nothing really important in the new?

Well here's why.

A new study shows that the more graphic and intense war news is, the less likely that viewers - regardless of political beliefs - will remember the advertising that follows the news.

For the full article Physorg.com

So is the lack of good information in the new the government keeping them quiet or is it the news corps trying to make a few more buck on our ignorance.

If it works with something disturbing like the war it would work with something really disturbing like the truth.

Peace

there is no such thing as free press anymore. everyone knows that.

All newspapers have their own political agendas. wich become very clear, if you read a few of them.

While I hugely disagree with them doing this, i can still enjoy my daily newspaper.

Especially the story the other day, about the memoirs of a retired soldeir and ex POW in japan, simply incredible it was.

there are a few gems around, if you can be bothered to actually read more than a few sentances..

Its both. They want us dumb and broke. And it's working for the most part. Just look at the ratings for all of those stupid "reality" tv shows.

Yes but as bad as that POW's circumstances where that is put into that paper or your local news channel as a "Feel Good Story" that is the kinda thing that you look forward to see in the new and stick around to see everything else including the advertising.

If you do feel good ever watching or reading that according to this study you should remember the ads that follow better.

Peace

Lol. not all ads are bad.

like if you need a new powertool. and then see one for rediculously low price.

or you see an adver for climbing everest for charity, and think. screw it. ill do it!

everything comes from a biased point of view. and fear mongering is rampant. they portray a fictitious enemy to be scared of etc etc...

they have these so called specialists who come and give their opinions and expect people to take them at face value without much research

they employ sexy news reporters .(not that im against it...its just i hate bulls**** coming from beautiful ladies)

they have shows like ...the view? and which is the one which comes after nancy grace ..with that former actress....

its a circus parade out there...

didnt they have Mr. Obama on some late night televsion show or something? i heard about it..

If you dont like it . And there is a lot of things I dont like on tv. Just switch it over. or go do something else.

Not everyone in the country is at the same intelligence as you. so you will find many dumbed down shows as well as some that really make you think.
not eveyone has the same tastes.

yeah, im aware theres a freedom to watch anything...no one put a gun to my head and said watch these shows only. but my point is that nothing is worthwhile.. propaganda news, reality shows etc etc are not my cup of tea anyway.

I get most all of my news and info from the net...papers from around the world, Drudge report, World Net Dailey, and alternative news sources...like here. However, if it weren't for the mass media I wouldn't know who Lady Gaga or Britney Spears or Lindsey Lohan are. Or that Obama has a dog, or Michelle likes organic foods, or that Michael Jackson is dead, or that China used panda exchanges as a means of protest.

I actually got in an argument with a neighbor over a military/medical issue I read about on-line. He denied it because it wasn't on CBS. It's sad that so many know more about Sarah Palin's panty colors than about the psuedoscience of Global Warming and the impact of the Cap in Trade Bill passed by the House.

The only news I watch now is BBC I dont know if it is the best but its the only one I can still stand any more. what I really cant stand is reallity shows or anything with a fail actor actress or singer in it. I pretty much stick to the history channel and discovery mixed in with Family Guy ever once in awhile lol

and because people would lose interest in the new if they new what was going on in DC in detail and the news corps would lose their ad money. if it wasnt for Sarah Palin's panty color people wouldnt know what to buy any more

Well,I know what you mean.I am so tired of them making crap up.Those people that you are seeing are just reading what someone else wrote and put on a prompter for them to read.

It is sad.I have heard them say complete untruths a number of times recently.I sat and wondered if it would have been very hard if they actually researched something and them told us the truth.

The untruths was not about politics but local news stories that were "back@sswards" to what actually transpired. How many times do you see misspelled words and such on the news banner running across the bottom.

I think the whole television industry and entertainment industry is being ran by people who graduated from college with 1.0 GPA.

CBS laid off a couple hundred people and ABC did also.Did even one of those head honchos even consider getting rid of those two over paid female airheads they have as anchors?

No, of course not.
