The he goes in to office, to start work.

Conversation on his first days goes like this:

And so the conversation continues on the same theme, as Mr Obama, just like so many of his predecessors, is educated / told how thing are going to work.

Did you not notice that pressty much immediately after he started in the job his hair started turning grey? in a matter of days.

The same thing happened to Blair in the UK. His hair is almost white now!

Hair turning grey in days is a sure sign of a profound shock to the system, But I am sure the deal is sweet enough!!

Hence the reason that all the campaign intention get put on hold or binned so that the real work of USA Inc. can continue.

Not that he has much to worry about. Given how they've all but disappeared, it seems that the 'anti-war' protesters were, in reality, primarily anti-Bush. It seems that few of them care much if Obama broke that promise or not.

He couldn't end the war as promised, because a campaign promise is a weightless, unknowlegeable statement given prior to a candidate discovering the realities of their office. A campaign promise isn't worth spit, and President Obama's campaign promises are just as spitworthy as everyone else's.

Once in office, the reality of the situation, the players, the myriad of ties, money, influences and strategies were revealed, and he did the predictable thing -- so far.

The real question -- at least for me -- is whether he really believed that rhetoric prior to being elected, or if he knew then it was bullcrap. I suppose it doesn't matter much.

There's no money to be made in ending war.

Why does any politician do anything?

Obama didn't end the war because there's no money in it. It doesn't create jobs or generate more taxes. It actually creates more unemployment and increases the number of people on welfare.

Those are pretty good reasons to keep a war going. Forever.

You obviously do not know me. I am not an obama fan. Just someone who is tired of the pointless rhetoric and whining thrown around these days.

I am not sticking up for him, I couldnt care less. i am not surprised that he is a liar. His predecessor was a liar. As was HIS predecessor. And so on and so forth.

If this shocks you, you dont know much about history.

You can follow the last 12 presidents(at least), and pick out all the lies.

Again, what does it accomplish to sit and whine about them?

I too would take Paul over any that we have had recently, however, Id far rather have someone who is SEEKING a career in politics.
