Actually you brought in some interesting information. It is believed that Jupiter's gravity has screened out a lot of material preventing the Earth from being bombarded by incoming debris that would have wiped out life on Earth.

Here is a study in which the Jupiter as protector role is questioned. I'm sure it will take a long time to work this issue out. It's a complex situation.

It certainly is interesting. I find it quite interesting in view of the fact that the impacts have been mostly seen by amateur astronomers. It's great to see that the "average person" can contribute to knowledge of the world about us.
