Well, here we go again, jobs being funded in CHINA!

Senators Want ‘Buy American’ Rule in Stimulus

“A critical Recovery Act priority is investment in the domestic renewable and clean energy industry, not investment in foreign manufacturers,” the senators wrote to Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner on Tuesday. They asked Mr. Geithner to apply a buy-American provision to future energy projects funded under the act.

Stimulus money goes overseas

But the Department of Energy responded Wednesday afternoon, saying that the senators' message was misleading and that funding goes only to projects built in the United States and that those projects, in turn, spur economic growth. They say wind turbines built domestically — regardless of where some of the parts are manufactured — will create more demand for clean-energy manufacturing.

Well, I think you now how I feel. :bnghd:

The only thing I'm surprised at is that it's only 79% of $2 billion. I have a feeling a lot more than that is finding it's way into non-American businesses and pockets. But then again, weren't a majority of Americans wanting us to become a larger and friendlier part of the world community?

Yeah, I thought those numbers were low also.

With the rampant removal of manufacturing here in the US, I thought it would be higher.

Yes, I think this is one of Obama's (and the rest of government) components of spreading the wealth. I said that it would not be only spreading the wealth to the US but all of the world.

With the economy the way it is, has any funding of foreign countries been lowered? NOPE.

Carry on government in destroying the US.

They are almost done creating a two class nation. The very rich and educated and those in poverty!

A nation that manufactures nothing has no real competitive edge. We have outsourced so much manufacturing that those jobs are soon to be gone. Now Customer Service jobs are outsourced. It enrages me when banks that got stimulus money have overseas CS departments.

They can't be so stupid, this is a plan and they are executing it rapidly. We are cooked.

I fully support a "buy domestic" policy when it comes to using govt money for industry but the fact of the matter is - it's just too damned hard to police it!

Case-in-point..

I work in IT - programming to be specific. A domestic company wins a contract on a govt RFP to build "application X". Domestic company then turns around and hires a team in India to code "application X" (they actually deliver "bug-ridden program Y" but that's a different story..). There are simply no build in protocols to police these types of practices going on and I'm sure it happens in all sectors and industries.

S+F.

It amazes me how people in power INTENTIONALLY DESTROY
american economy.

We are no longer creating ANYTHING.

We are just SALESMEN...

Selling whatever until that too runs out.
