Reports of AAL78 having a "attempted cockpit breach" prompted Eurofighters from Sqdn3 to be scrambled over the skies of Central London to escort the 767 safely down into London Heathrow. The Woman was promptly arrested upon arrival but no word on what her motives were and officials have kept quiet about this incident.

well sounds like yet another over reaction by the PTB,
looks like was an emotionally disturbed woman by all accounts at your link,
and that the pilot was just reporting as per standard,
but did say, all was under control and not a serious threat.
Seems ATC didn't flinch, but uk anti terrorist department went into overdrive....
the boys at the base were bored no doubt.
What DID get a reaction from me was the following comment from someone at the forum...
" If it was such a threat, why wasn't it put into Shannon ?"

and what exactly does an irish airport have to do with an us-uk flight?

Happily, he was knocked back to reality 3 comments later.
Nothing happening here, just more of the same by the "war of terror".
but thanks for bringing it to attention all the same.

I am glad that security was alert about this even if it wasn't needed.

Security always has to be hyper-alert.

Shannon airport, is like London Stanstead, it has a runway that is a long way from the terminal and has been traditionally used forholding planes during hijackings, held on the tarmac for negotiations, a plane coming across the atlantic would usually be diverted to shannon in event of any issues, a plane from europe would be diverted to stanstead, hope that clears it up for you.

Thanks mate, I know Shannon well, have family living there,
hence my comment, why should one dump one's dirty laundry in one's neighbour's washing basket, only to endanger their family at the expense of not risking one's own?

Just to remind you, Ireland is a sovereign country, NOT part of Britain.
Hope that clears my remark up for you too.
cheers

By the PTB? What does it have to do with them?

I don't think it is an over reaction. It is better safe than sorry. I doubt if anyone is trying to breach a cockpit that they're doing it for a good reason.

That depends on which PTB you are referring to.
I am referring to those that fear-monger with regard to plane terror,
be they creators of false flag fizzing underwear , or dehumanising body scanners, just to clarify.
And as a frequent flyer both long and short haul, I ,like most, have had enough of the knee jerking, and imaginary BS.
Stop being afraid !
You have more to worry about from them ,than anything else.
