Brazil rebuffed a U.S. appeal for new sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program, vowing during a visit from U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton not to "bow down" to gathering international pressure.

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva pre-empted Clinton even before she could make the case for new United Nations Security Council penalties. Silva is an outspoken opponent of sanctions, and his country currently sits on the Security Council, which will be asked to approve its toughest-ever penalties on Iran later this year.

The World is changing at a fast pace. The US continuing to only see the

World through the barrel of a gun, are missing the opportunities that other

countries are snapping up.

Brazil has recently replaced the US as it's biggest trading partner with the
Chinese.

I do agree with you alot but on this one I take pretty realist attitude towards it. We are going to go to war and it is going to be a big one and you can either stand with us or against us or sit it out. The counties that stand with us will enjoy the fruits it will bring and the countries that stand against us will look alot like Germany and Japan and Italy after ww2. It will happen and my money and life is on America.

Why should the US go to war with Iran, please tell me? Because they may be or may not be about to produce weopon grade nuclear material? That is NO reason to go to war. If is is, then why didnt they (US) go to war with Israel, South Africa, Pakistan and India.

Well thats a simple one lol..

Israel, South Africa, Pakistan and India weren't sitting in possible the most energy specific strategic location on the planet while basically giving the US the two fingers by boycotting the whole Petro-Dollar/reserve currency thing.

@ Subjective Truth

You sound at times like you would love a big war - would you?

I understand you love the fact that your country is so powerful militarily, but you have to remember that its decreasing power and increasing volatility as an Empire is making it an increasingly tough force to be in an alliance with.

Most of the up and coming "Superpowers" are picking the opposite side..

Good one dermo.......
We post at the same places, I'd like to friend you.

They cried wolf over Iraq. (weapons of mass destruction)

Now the world won't listen.

They almost had me there, but you've got to realize their plan.

Those mice in their heads are probably spinning even faster now, the lightbulb is almost lit.

They figure if they can cry wolf one more time and get away with, (or not)when they really need the world (next time)and it's support, the world won't be there. It's almost as devious as a false flag.

I came up with it,, and I know I'm right.

These sanctions are a rouze, we're being set up.

So spoke a warmonger!!!

I live in Brazil and I must say that 90% of brazilian people are NOT aware of this geopolitical context. People here are worried about soccer championships, soap TV shows and parties, lots of parties. I mean, the Lula and government is made up by former domestic socialist terrorists. The Brazilian Union movement was a decoy to put in the power, political groups associated to latin narcoterrorism. Well, they got it. The people put them in the government, kept them 8 years and are serious possibilities of keep them more 4 years through Dilma Roussef, a retired socialist domestic terrorist in the '70s. My point here is: Most of Brazilian people nor even know who the f**** is Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, don't know sh*t about his nuclear program and the threat he represents to world balance.
For those who lives in a superpower nation is easy to say "bomb all this motherf*****", without stop just a second that people that die under the bombs, are in most of the cases, IGNORANT DUMB ASSES. What I'm saying here, is WAR IS NOT SOLUTION!!!
Hillary Clinton is here. I was just minutes ago in a Brazilian forum of Terra website and there was a huge discussion, 'cos many people saw in Hillary, the people we need to put our nation in the right track. I assure you, if Hillary Clinton spent a couple of months in Brazil, walking over there, over here, speeching to public, people would get real about WHAT KIND of people are government Brazil, currently. I mean, brazilian people don't support wars, actually. Brazilian people don't support warmongers as Ahmadinejad, Chaves, Bush or whoever, but the politicians take the decisions. Corrupt politicians as Lula, are controlling South America and associating our nations to world menaces, but the south american people usually is a peaceful people.

So, don't be so fast to announce war against us. We, brazilians, are NOT your enemies.

I like your response, it's honest.

One thing, Ahmadinejad is not a war monger. He's about democratic solutions. Watch this,

I'll let it go, as you said, you're from Brazil.

The truth is I am a military collector so war is pretty close to my heart but I understand the suffering that comes with it. War is hell but it seems the only way to stay on top is to take a imperialistic approach to the world. I also think that war is about the only option left on the table for bringing us out of this depression. I have alot of respect for all soldiers and admire the sheer guts it takes to fight with a gun. But if I had to choose it would choose peace.

Well it seems like your "realist" view is very subjective. I've read a few of your posts and it seems like you take breaks from playing modern warfare before you post on ATS. Well this is the real world and you can't pause or reset things. If your proud of your government's actions internationally or domestically for that matter, then maybe you should pick up a book or two and enlighten yourself. Remember you can be patriotic and intelligent at the same time.

I need to pick up a book? How many big wars in the past 100 years? The world is always at war it is a way of life for many countries we have more war than peace. So stick your higher than mighty attitude where the sun does not shine. And if you don't think we are at perpetual war prove me wrong. I bet you cant. I see the truth you see the world the way you want it to be. But like I said step up to the plate and show me how the world is not shaped by war. And if you think that is going to change I have some nice property on the moon for sale. But I bet you already have a time share on the dark side.
