I'm sorry but the US/UK mentality is a bit different than the "mainland European" mentality.

There are tourists everywhere here, and youth movements too, I don't think it's a good idea to scare the # out of them when they just do some trekking.

Well 9 times out of ten it's an illegal immigrant half-drunk and looking pretty shady. It's F'n common sense that you have to keep a tight ship if you've got these type of vermin lurking around on your property.....especially if you have a wife and kids.

Really not sure. This may be complete nonsense, but perhaps you could investigate being a hired hand on some large cargo ship where you'd earn your keep by working...? That would at least get you across the ocean.

However, unless it's going into some small port or unknown area, there will be customs and immigration checks. And if you're seen as a foreigner with no money, no prospects and more importantly, no visas of any kind, it could get upsetting

Actually that's what I'm planning on doing, I just haven't been able to find any ports where freight ships go to Europe.

I don't care about any passport, one of my main goals is to not let the government keep me enslaved here with their requirements and phony documents required for me to explore and travel this planet which belongs to all of us, and I've heard that the port in Rotterdam, Netherlands is very busy and sometimes they don't even check for passports.

As much as I like your idea to travel, as much I think you should'nt skip the "passport" step. Really, getting a passport is not so much of a hassle, but you will be happy to have one. So in case of any problem, you can still ask to go to your embassy.

Well, I lived in A'dam for about a year and then to the middle and then nearer Utrecht for a few months after that. And while the Dutch are a great people, very laid back and enjoy themselves, they are still very stringent about immigration. Perhaps it wasnt as bad, back when I lived there, but I would only guess security has jumped up significantly since.

And ports have so many people coming and going, I could only assume any ship entering port would have to declare its crew manifest and have their passports/visas checked, depending on if/howlong they stay.

As for not wanting a passport to avoid the US govt monitoring you - that's fair enough. But *every* country will expect you to preset you valid travel documents before they let you in. Unless you are entering illegally, you must have a passport and/or travel docs/visa.

Again, I'm not trying to upset you, but I have travelled about Europe quite a bit, from Denmark down to Italy and over to Japan and the far east. And I can tell you, at no time have I ever been ignored of customs or passport control.

Sorry matey. I don't like it either, but that's how it is.

No, I don't plan on going out into the wilderness in Alaska...I plan on traveling the globe without money. Yep with no money..I've never been out of the U.S I'm planning on getting all the way to Europe

This is still in it's early stages and I still need to find another partner that is looking for an adventure, I still need to do lot's of planning etc.

I mean this could be the adventure of a lifetime and it could also turn out to be a nightmare but whatever.

Good on you as my best friend did exactly that and travelled to Australia with very little money enough for a plane ticket. Lived out there for 9 months travelling across the out-back working in warehouse's and eventually tied himself a good job looking after the wel-being of tazmanian devils at Tazmanian Island. He payed $50 a night in a rented out camper van those massive sivler camper cans lol we are both from UK so everything seems bigger to us lol
