Sounds pretty cool.

However, just be careful that if you have no money and no way to prove you have access to funds, places like the UK and some European countires take a hard stance on vistors who have no funds.

They often appear to be people looking for work or plan on staying illegally in the country.

Not trying to wee on your plans - just saying, be careful. Nowadays, the whole free-spirited adventure is often hard to do as the entire world revolves around little pieces of paper.

Around a piece of paper, that would have to be my favorite saying.

The whole world dose revolves around whats written, weather it be the bible, law or even school, people tend to think whats written is whats right, and never decide to experience it for themselves.

I agree, but me personally, no planning at all.

A few tools, a small tent, and backpack full of rice, and I'm awalkin.

Fear is something I am not bringing.

It's just some pieces of paper (money) which actually have no real value but we put so much worth into them that they actually drive how the majority of the world lives.

It wouldnt be a lie to say my mind and body aches to be free from all this and to live a happy, simple life in a wooded forest away from everything. Some people say that's just a childish form of escapism and don't want to deal with things like taxes, careers, etc. And that's very very true.

However, having dependants means it isn't always that simple.

Go for it.

Seriously...I'm not being facetious at all...in all honesty I'd encourage you to go for it.

Sure, as you say this could be the adventure of a lifetime, or it can be a nightmare...whichever it will be I personally think comes down to how you look at it, how you approach each day and what you take from each moment.

Really - the only way you'll know which it'll be is through the doing.

...kinda think the biggest regrets we can ever have are not about things we've done but rather those we didn't do...

Go for it - and good luck.

Peace.

If you are planning an adventure be sure to stop by Ohio near the 614, we could kick it, and it seems we're both in the same boat and have about the same current mentality.

I just long for an adventure.

Just so long as I get to wear my traveling hood, but I may be inclined to bring some form of currency with me. Mostly just my gold coins I keep in my money purse, you never know when I may need to stop at the nearest pub or inn (mostly just to replenish my HP, although the pub doesn't really help matters much).

If you get lost in the woods in Ohio be sure to keep your wits about you, I have heard strange tales of trolls and roving clans of Orcs in these parts. Remember that any small village you encounter probably has an items shop so you can restock on much need accessories such as potions.

Every traveler needs potions, and eye drops just in case of blindness.

With me at your side we surely can't get lost, my intelligence is at 10.

Also be aware that I have not entirely mastered Major Flame yet, it would be smart to keep a fire extinguisher on hand...

Other than that, this adventure should be grand.

Well, those pieces of paper ruin lives, and bring greed. I'm not blaming money, I'm not blaming people, I'm just saying it isn't for me. My mind set is elsewhere.

Funny how things just happen..like your thread for instance.

Myself I have been working up to this for a few years, in my experiences, unless you plan on hustling=danger...I found that by staying with the native river/creek systems was the only way I could travel in the USA for free, without getting labeled a bum or vagrant, and staay well fed and hydrated..

As far as your choice of destinations, I guess everyone needs an end place or just a destination...so yours is EU...cool with me.

If you would be enterested in a trial run or the likes here in the states...presuming thats where you now live..I will be traveling south along the western edge of the mississippi delta, from just south of KC and head towards the gulf...hitting the Mighty Mississippi at Shreveport....and ending my journey there.
I "in the past" keep a slow pace..average just over 1 mile per hour.. over the duration of the trip...some days I may not move at all...thus creating my low MPH average.
You know even in the wilds you need a day off, and if supplies are plentiful and you have fresh fish caught and ready to cook/eat..
Thats the best time to vent..take a little time off, and is when most of my critical decisions get answered.

As for me other than the travel time and/or loss of it, due to boating and such to get to EU....
I do not think it would be any different once there.
As long as you stay in the rivers/creeks and keep your health, wits, and don't let yourself grow a sasquatch beard "I'm quilty of that ATM"

My Journey start in a few weeks, and will last until late summer or early fall.
I've never traveled with a companion.....I see emmediate benefits and dangers, IE...more calories needed...
Myself I take NO food with me, and rely on my BOB, well a "cut back/reserved packing of it" its not packed for armogeddon!
I rely on fish, squirrels, and small game for food through trapping, and I have an old beater junk .22 thats just as faithful as a good dog, and it would not be a loss, if I had to loose it, to get on a boat, just throw it over board or sell it, for $10

Anyways, now I'm ranting on and on....see if this helps ya..
I was wanting to do the same thing, as far as travel goes, many years ago, and after finding how much adventure was right in my own back yard...I found no reason to completely leave the country.
So if a trial run in the states is to your liking, I'm game, as long as the start point and some minor conditions apply.
PS I'm 38 well traveled and very serious...
