According to Wiki,

Politics is a process by which groups of people make collective decisions. The term is generally applied to behavior within civil governments, but politics has been observed in other group interactions, including corporate, academic and religious institutions. It consists of "social relations involving authority or power"[1] and refers to the regulation of a political unit,[2] and to the methods and tactics used to formulate and apply policy.[3]

The word "Politics" comes from the Greek word Πολιτικά (politika) from politic (adj.), modeled on Aristotle's "affairs of state," the name of his book on governing and governments, which was rendered in English mid-15 century as Latinised "Polettiques." In Latin, this was "politicus" and in French "politique". Thus it became "politics" in Middle English (see the Concise Oxford Dictionary).

en.wikipedia.org...

Sometimes the definition makes it more clear,

People who ignore politics, I am guilty, I did for years, do not realize it is going to impact your life one way or another.

The people who don't want to get involved must realize someday you will pay the price for the laws and bad policies in-acted by these world leaders.

Feeling helpless and having no control over the situation, or being complacent, is not an option.

Think what the world would be like today if good men and women, throughout history, had this attitude and,
Sat back and did nothing.

What will it take to motivate us?

How much are you willing to sacrifice?

We have this public forum to voice our grievances, we might not have it one day, it is a distinct possibility.

politics from poli-(many) and tics (annoying burrowing insects that cause lyme disease)

seems like such an appropriate word!

The vitriol and bitterness that enters into "discussions" regarding American politics is astounding.

Never have I seen so many countrymen openly hating and aggressively hating on their own countrymen.

Only in America.

In the UK for instance, people have beefs with the more nationalistic bents of some of the parties, but everyone recognizes they are in the same boat.

Not so in america!

America has divided itself neatly and will continue to slide further into those divisions because there are elements at play that are pushing for it.

When you have elected officials who declare "these are real Americans and those are not" you are already on your way to a failed state collapsed under the weight of the greed of it's members states.

American politics is not debated, it is stated and shouted down or shouted up.
I haven't heard an intelligent "debate" about American politics since Carter was in office really.

For the rest of us out here in the rest of the world with the other 6.2 billion members, we are somewhat amused with your bickering and internal hatred. It's fascinating to watch...like a train wreck!

Just a thought, but I wonder how many people decide to not post questions or comments because of repercussions from someone else?

From my standpont, I see a lot of bickering people not show respect for others. I am almost afraid to post anything here for fear some disrespecting person would attack me the way others here have been.

I like this site, but because of the name calling, and almost personal grudge against others, I am thinking on maybe finding another place to go.

But a rule about respect would be nice and if that doesn't happen, then I'd start banning them, or even kicking them off. I truely believe there are many people like me out there who might post more if the rule was inforced. jmho

My advice is to remember that this is the internet. There are a thousand veiws expressed every billionth of a second or something like it... not all of them will sit well with everyone, but it doesnt matter and you know why ? Its the internet. You arent going to get shot over it , you arent going to get a beating. So what the hell difference does it make wether people appreciate what you post? The main thing is that you have expressed yourself. Wether people like your attitude or opinion is not important, and how they react to your veiw is not important. All that matters is the expression , and the fact that people will read your post, and know your thoughts. If YOU value your opinion, then its worth having, and worth expressing.
That said , sometimes its important to get feedback to avoid becoming isolated from reality, but other than that if you think you have something to say on a subject, then I for one would appreciate you being honest enough to say what you think IN SPITE of the possibility of recriminations. Hell , not everyone likes my attitude , but I refuse to let that stop me from using my right to speak my mind.

I would like to reiterate TrueBrit's stance.

This is the internet, and we are just Avatar's here. I belong to another political site where it is required to use your own name. It still gets VERY heated there.

I felt in the beginning of joining here that I felt I was being personally attacked. Than I realized it is not I others were attacking, but my positions.

Yes, some of it was vitriolic, but think of it this way, if they devolve to that tactic, YOU ARE WINNING THE DEBATE.

Step up to the plate and SWING FOR THE BLEACHERS! You may strike out, but you may also hit a GRAND SLAM.

By the way TruBrit, I love watching your debates in government coverage. I wish our Congress would get together like that sometimes and let the verbiage fly. I feel here in the US, we are TOO damn nice in the debates in the congress themselves.

The debating ends up more in our MSM than where it belongs, in the Congress.

I did not know this was only a debating site. I thought, and apparently wrongly, that this site was to explore all kinds of ideas about 'ufo' activity, other theories about a great many things. Excuse me, if I mistakenly thought that people with scruples were tolerated here, but I know better. There are a few very bright minded people that come here that choose not to post because of the arena of too-hard-core 'debate'. I am not trying to be ugly, no, not at all. I'm just making an observation on the things I've seen so far. So debate away friends, but as for me.... If I see a post and have the right to say something, then it will happen. I will ignore those that wish to try to make others have the debaters view by proving some point. And as for politics spoken about here.... sure! I'll have a blast looking at all the antics!

Antics, smantics, that is why I joined. Politics is the management system used to CONTROL nations.

Talk about conspiracy, there is NOTHING bigger than politics.

Politics has everything to do with everything.

If it has a conspiracy involved in it, it has politics involved in it.

Like I said, step up to the plate and give us YOUR position.

It seem's to be about time that the Independant Party found a good strong leader and threw a joker into the works (read Assimov) and did some damage control done by the demopublicans I mean the repocrats I mean the corporation well you understand I hope.
It was not the declaration for the corpoation , it was not the declaration for the democracy, it was not the declaration for the republic ,
It Is The declaration of Independance and starts
"We The PEOPLE" not the poloticians, not the military, not the lawyers and certainly not the corporations that are keeping the people poor and in debt And if you dont like this post then go read the Magna Carta I mean the Constitutuion I mean the Declaration for yourself and see what it says
It seems that if something doesnt happen soon then the United States will be in the middle of another revolution only this time from internal forces of people being "maintained" > I dont want to say it but look at the causes of the French revolution

Shoot SO, everything you write's a thing of beauty and in my opinion well researched.

I believe it's equally good for Above Top Secret, you respond in all ATS forums--directly, when such is written about or commented on a topic, you feel is a above and beyond ATS norm.

That's right the internet has given US power,

Once we were only informed by the media and the news papers.

We weren't the ones writing the articles, now with the age of information we can search and reveal.

Now the average citizen with enough time and energy can start a political movement.

We can search the internet and reveal information once hidden,

This is called the "information age" for a reason... All the information ever compiled is in the library we call the internet. YOu may have to dig, many won't, or can't, believe...but it's there. Maybe not in so many words, but between the lines there is other information, too.

Keep digging. Keep talking. Nothing remains hidden forever. Truth will eventually win out.

I also appreciate, as do many here, the call for civility in our debates about politics. Though, we all have to remember that a "spirited" debate is something that should be encouraged. I have read of the congressional debates amongst the colonial represenatives before, during, and after the revolutionary war. There was pleanty of name calling, emotion, and even threats against one another. Let us all not be too afraid to stand and deliver our opinions based on factual information and our own convictions. We should indeed keep things civil but not extinguish the flame that gives the discussions in this incredible place such fire and spirit.

It is actually the oposite. There are, and have been more leftist dictatorships than "rightwing dictatorships".

Why do you enclose parenthesis over right-wing dicatorships? Are you that ignorant, or immature, to suggest there is no such thing? Please, lets have an honest discussion for a change! I admitted there were some left-wing dictatorships, but you are unwilling to admit there is such a thing as a right-wing dictatorship.

A dictatorship can be many things and dose not mean its always bad. Yes most of the time it is bad but not always and a lot has to do with perception.

You want to demonise all left-wing dictatorships and give right-wing dictatorships a free pass. You barely, if at all, understand how government works and keep saying "small government" WITHOUT DESCRIBING anything!

Paying less taxes and having less regulations does not mean success in my book. It means failure, just like passing the WRONG LEGISLATION can be extremely detrimental.

I guess if your wealthy you want semi-anarchy, you demonise anyone that cannot succeed in life as lazy, you want everything private, you want more imperialism, etc.

I can't speak for others, but I will tell you that at least 90% of any population would TRUELY HATE such ideas, IF THEY KNEW the truth!

Simple fact is mainstream media keeps pushing NON-FINANCIAL ISSUES such as birth control, religion, same sex marriage TO COVER-UP FAILED FAILED FINANCIAL POLICIES of the past. That is all they can do and it wreeks.

I know a lot of people like to claim that for example Nazi Germany was "right wing", when in fact it was a leftwing dictatorship which implemented Socialist programs, but such people will never of course admit this even when Hitler himself would state so in his speeches.

It WAS a left-wing quasi-dictatorship! It really wasn't a classic dictatorship because the people INITIALLY voted hitler and his party into office, despite the fact he later turned rogue. People, including yourself, do not understand WHY he was so popular and I won't bother explain why, if you don't already know.

As for the left wing status, ONLY THE ECONOMY was left-wing! He was NOT the typical left winger because of his anti-semitic tactics and imperialistic goals.

When the military takes over a country it is not anymore "Capitalist", but rather a military dictatorship. "Leftwing regimes" have "used" Capitalism to stay afloat...yet they are not truly a Capitalist nation.

I know exactly what I am talking about, and I am not confusing anything.

All dictatorships ARE militaristic, regardless if they are capitalistic, socialistic or communistic. A dictatorship is FORCED RULE so unless the military CAN ENFORCE the dictator's will he becomes power-less.

First of all, you are aware that most people in the world have been subject to such "Socialist" dictatorships right? In China alone there are at leat 1.3 billion people.

It was a communist dictatorship, that is if you can call it a dictatorship in the first place. Please DO NOT CONFUSE socialism with communism! They ARE NOT the same thing!

Socialism is the middle ground between capitalism and communism, despite the soviet union ATTEMPTING to hide under socialism. I guess you can call it LEFT socialism and hitlers version RIGHT socialism, whatever makes your boat float but both are SKEWED EXAMPLES of classic socialism!

Third of all, the world is in an economic crisis and you want to claim there has been prosperity?

Even before the conomic crisis most countries which had "Universal healthcare" were going bankrupt because such a system could not be sustained. Yes, even Canada...

Classic socialism has been dying for quite some time now due to privatisation of industry. I am speaking about europe and canada!

In america all the bailouts were given to private companies so how is that classic socialism? Giving "government funds" to the private sector is crony capitalism. Wake up man!

For crying out loud...first of all you need to take a cill pill... The parenthesis that I put on "rightwing dictatorship" doesn't mean any of the rhetorical diatrabe you posted. I am emphasizing the one form of government that YOU want to demonize... Grow the hell up...

Ooooh.... so a "dictatorships" doesn't have to be bad?... Talk about ignorance... The word 'dictatorship" itself means to govern without consent.... and yes it is ALWAYS bad...

I know that there are many dictators who claim their people love them, and they release information to the world which is not true, and I know this by experience. I guess you must be either a small dictator, or the son/relative of one to be making this claim....

Where in the world did i give a free pass to "rightwing dictatorships"?.... Learnt to read and understand what people say instead of puting words in their mouths, or in this case exagerating and claiming things I didn't write. As I wrote before, grow the hell up....

Second of all I understand well how government works...and there have been several forms of government which have been small and have worked, otherwise we would be living as we write all this...

All you did was write rhetorical nonsense, and claim things I didn't write, or even implied...

I have known quite well, and for a long time that Hitler was elected.... as i also know Chavez was also elected...and I also know that castro was loved by many Cubans when he first appeared in the scene.... All of them changed later on, and btw Hitler himself would state in many of his speeches that he was a Socialist....

Hitler was also an environmental extremist. He was as "GREEN" as those "GREENs" of today who would rather put a plant first than a child, or ten children, or 100 children....

ALL Communists are Socialists.. This is something people like you don't want to understand, or comprehend....

You yourself said Socialism is a road to Communism, and in fact Karl Marx himself said Socialism is a stage to transform a Capitalist nation into a Communist one.

ALL Communists describe themselves as Socialists simply because Communism has every facet of Socialism but it is the stage when the state owns it all, and has all power, yet it claims to represent the people, yet it doesn't represent them, the elite just claim it does, and people are brainwashed, and indoctrinated into believing that "the U.S. Imperialists are evil" which is a claim many ignorant people have been beleiving and a motto such people, and it seems you too, have taken.

And the largest company is now owned by the state.... They start always with one, in small steps....

BTW, the'bailouts" were given only to certain companies that the rich Socialist elites own, and want to keep going at least for a while longer. It was also meant to destroy small busienesses, and that is what has been occurring. Small businesses are dying everywhere more than ever before.

Now, go and take a few days off, or take a chill pill and relax....
