Growing up in America you are taught, directly or indirectly, that the americans and the american government stand up and support the independence of freedom loving peoples.. this is false. while the american people might to an extent, the american government picks and chooses whom it should support based on wether or not it fits there imperialist foriegn policy objectives.

There are several worthy causes out there that you on ATS and people all over the world should be aware of. people who are distinct and want their rights of self-determination, people who are oppressed who deserve freedom, etc. The American Government has a long history of supporting brutal dictators when it caters to thier needs. This is in sharp contrast and a downright atrocity to american values and the values of our founding fathers. another sign that this government and the establishment that surrounds it (banks, big business, military industrial complex) are no longer for american values or americans for that matter.

Some of the groups that im going to list that i think people should support are listed on our governments', as well as others, as terrorist organizations. that is a decision for you deicde wether or not they are terrorists. I dont support terrorists or terrorism but i believe in the right of self-determination and freedom for any peoples whom so desire to have it. The word Terorrism is meant to instill fear in the sheeple, to demonize any group or individuals who dont follow the status quo in the eyes of the everyday commoner to garner support for thier imperialist expeditions. Look past the fear and into the facts...

Any freedom loving peoples should support these peoples in thier struggle for freedom:

How about we work on getting some freedom here in the United States first?

Seems like the common sense thing to do.

i would have included other groups other than hawaii and puerto rico from the US except that the majority of americans want to re-do the current government and stay the USA, not liberate thier own "nations" from the us government.

Excellent thread
and some great views, any appreciation would be less for highlighting global peace.

Also let me remind you of Myanmar whose democratically elected leader Aung Suu Ki has been under house arrest for past 14 years by the Military Junta. In the 1990 general election, Suu Kyi was elected Prime Minister of Myanmar. She had, however, already been detained under house arrest before the elections. She has remained under house arrest in Myanmar for almost 14 out of the past 20 years.

Influenced by both Mahatma Gandhi's philosophy of non-violence and by more specifically Buddhist concepts, led the fight for democracy against the Military Junta rule. She was offered freedom if she left the country, but she refused.

Sorry, I did not watch all the vids.

Just wanted to say that we need to liberate them and install a government that is friendly to the US!

I am being facetious. Sorry.

S&F for the thread.

I want Wisconsin to be a sovereign state, that is how things were supposed to work, now everyone has to contribute to the EMPIRE, can I add that to the conversation?

If the rest of the world doesn't need the United States (that is the battle cry for detractors all around the globe)

Then why is it such a big deal who they choose to ignore and who they choose to help?

Reminds me of an old Robin Williams skit:

Alright Coffinman, I will expand my view on intervening in other countries.

Yes, things in other countries can be bad, they can be downright horrifying.

I just follow the tenet that to interfere in something, makes you responsible for it. My individualistic viewpoint.

Where does the intervention stop.

My biggest problem with interventionism is that we as free people, need to put our own houses in order, before throwing rocks in that glass house of ours.

I am probably to idealistic to talk on this subject. I feel that if people want to stop this personally, well than go over there and stop it. Nothing is stopping people from going to help and intervening themselves.

But once a government intervenes, we are than responsible for the very actions that happen afterwords.

Case in point-Saddam Hussein was helped to power through government interference.

I could bring up a huge number of examples. Now, the question is, has it helped in this approach over the last 50 years?

This is one of the sticklers to my viewpoints on our government. There are some VERY valid points to both sides. By the way, S&F for the discussion.

The American Government has a long history of supporting brutal dictators when it caters to thier needs.

That's a characteristic of EVERY superpower nation: Since Egypt, Rome, Napoleonic France, England, Nazi German, Russia (former Soviet Republic) and USA. Actually it also used to happen between certain native American tribes or nations, when disputing territory and influence over the others. It's most likely a issue that never will be solved, while there were nations, countries, frontiers, politics and armies. They are intrinsic things.

I dont support terrorists or terrorism but i believe in the right of self-determination and freedom for any peoples whom so desire to have it.

You ARE supporting terrorism. Every single historic conflict between oppressed nations and oppressive nations, had terrorism acts. There's no difference if it was the poisoning of the king's dog or an airplane hitting a government's building. The principle is the SAME.

Any freedom loving peoples should support these peoples in thier struggle for freedom:

Republic of Taiwan
Republic of South Ossetia
Scotland
Kachin Independence Organization
Kingdom of Hawaii
Republic of Kosovo
Kurdistan
Puerto Rico
Basque
Country
Republic of Abkhazia
Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic
South Sudan
Republic of Somaliland
Palestine
Nagorno-Karabakh Republic
Republic of South Moluccas
Tibet
Karen National Union
East Turkistan
Republic of Quebec

What I'm missing here?? Are u assuming that Porto Rico should start a fight against USA??? Just for this matter, Porto Rico is full of underground facilities of aliens that work with US military. What should Porto Ricans do?? Ask help to Fidel Castro, Hugo Chaves and Lula against Darth Obama???

A bunch of nations you listed here, are Muslim republics which people are submitted to a hardcore oppressive "religion", by free will. I mean, first they should set themselves free from Muslim SOUL oppression and THEN think about set their nations free of politic oppression.

The case of Tibet is quite delicate once the issue there, is that there's an entrance to ancient underground alien cities in this nation, the monks know where's it and the Chinese government knows that monks know where's it.

It's easy talk about "fight for freedom" outside the context, ignoring what goes deep in the game. I don't know... It's just like karma... The things happen based in individual and collective actions, sometimes something can be done to change the game, sometimes can't.

while it is the policy of every major super power the worlds ever seen, none were based on the principles of the united states. that every man should be free, the language of the constitution, the rights gaurenteed therein, the principles of it all... if we didnt have our heads up everyones a$$ wonderin whts goin and if it were in our best interests ($$$) then we wouldnt be afraid to support a people's fight for independence. you musnt forget how many countries in todays world our own revolution inspired...

war is war, and terrorism, like i said, is just a word used by TPTB to demonize there opponents. you must go to the roots of the movement and see for yourself thru research and whatnot and decide for yourself if whomever are really terrorists or not... and yes, i support all of the nations i listed above, vocally, for thier independence.

are you mad? aliens helping us military in undeground bunkers in Puerto Rico?? pffftt puerto ricans have already started the fight with the united states, try clicking on the links provided. there are plenty of muslim woman, millions apon millions of them, who have no problem with their faith. just because it doesnt adhere to western principles doesnt mean that those people are oppressed or unhappy, etc. all your mixing with aliens and nonsense confuses me because i dont know what your trying to tell me. the list i have provided above are legitimate fights for freedom.

Burma's Kachin army prepares for civil war (video included)

The gleaming gun is a statement, a display for the visitors, but the small metal plane stencilled on the sights looks woefully optimistic.

They are organised and say they have heavy weapons, but we did not see them.

There are around two dozen ethnic groups in Burma, mostly scattered around its borders, and the biggest have been in various states of ceasefire or civil war over the past few decades.

Traditional Kachin dances now take on a military theme
The KIA is one of the biggest. Their commanders say it includes 10,000 regular troops and 10,000 reservists, but it is impossible to know for sure.

The Burmese army is huge. It has an air force of sorts and artillery, and the KIA knows the only way to survive will be to withdraw into the jungle and fight a guerrilla war of attrition.

But civil war would create tens of thousands of refugees and create regional instability.

"If we are attacked the other ethnic groups will support us, as they know the same could happen to them," Gen Gam Shawng explained.

The nearby Wa ethnic group has tens of thousands of troops and resources funded by drug smuggling, and we were told a deal with them had been agreed.

Whether civil war comes here is now up to the Burmese government.

If they use this election year to solve what they see as the "problem" of the ethnic groups they will have a fight on their hands, and the region will have to deal with the consequences.
