The threat against the Islamic world is two-fold with the combined threat of America and Israel. Israel is a powerful military force but its military involvement (with a few exceptions) is limited when compared to the involvement of the US. However, Israel has employed a passive-aggressive strategy, painting themselves as the victims in every scenario, and thus anything they do is met with very limited objection. Being able to potentially get away with anything is equally as dangerous as having the actual means to do anything.

Israel's "victim status" has allowed it to run rampant around the Gaza Strip; anything done by the Palestinians is vile terrorism and anything done by the Israelis (even when the types of victims are women, children etc.) is seen as a mild defence against some kind of wild and ferocious enemy that can strike at any time, unseen until it is too late. A Palestinian child throws a rock at what he perceives to be a big bully and the tanks roll in, generally to the applause of most who nod, knowing that the Israelis just crushed the next suicide bomber.

Countries now that have a somewhat traditional Islamic view have found themselves handcuffed and cornered. Any action brings cries of anti-Semitism from one side and the threat of potential bombing raids, forced revolutions and so on from the other. Sane people can only take such pressure for so long before they are forced to react. To this end, the Israeli-American alliance is as responsible for the actions against it as the very people who carried out the very same.

Of course, since 2001 the aggression has increased and, more than just a war, we see something darker going in Afghanistan (and Iraq). Far beyond beating the enemy, clearing out the dead and going home, we see a war based not on ideology (as wars generally are), but a war based on enforcement. It has nothing to do with publicly executing dissidents, but a more passive approach. Buildings of cultural importance are ignored as McDonalds and Burger Kings are built. Democratic elections are enforced, the irony being the US/UK alliance decide who can stand for election in the first place.

Whilst this has probably made some people see the "light" of Western democracy, freedom, peace and so on, it has also given more support to groups like al-Qaeda. This is because intelligent people can see that these Western promises don't hold much promise in the long run. They might have "exciting" new food and fizzy drinks, but these thrills don't last forever. These same intelligent people realise that if they choose this easy path, after they get bored of plastic trinkets everything that they once held dear will have turned to dust and their civilisation is - for all intents and purposes - dead, leaving them to play video games and buy junk they don't need.

Maybe you would think they would stop attacking Israel. I mean if those are response attacks from being attacked I sure know I would stop. By keeping the attacks on Israel going they are asking for a response. Then they want to point to the response attack and say," See what they are doing?" They will not just let us kill them. They want to respond with an attack. Whaaaaa. Whaaaa. Thats not fair. Give me a break. Are you just going to let someone attack you and not respond?

Now don't get me wrong. Both sides are wrong. So don't blame one side when they get their ass's handed to them for attacking the other, and then cry about the repercussions. This war has been going on for a long time.

I think one thing being pointed out here and in previous threads of this nature is the inequality of force used and the kill ratio that is a result of that force.

If your country was forcibly taken from you to establish a homeland for another people, and those people's government said on record that they intend to Exterminate You.. What would you do?

How would you fight to retain your homeland, to retain your quality of life, to retain your medical establishments, to retain some form of educational facilities and moreover to retain your right to self-direction when you are being slaughtered from the youngest to the oldest in large numbers as "Retaliation" for killing a few of your enemy?

Tell me how you would go about doing that please? If you cannot then you have no rights to judge the Palestinians for their efforts to do the same thing.

Back in February of last year when this particular attack happened it was a retaliation for the death of three Israeli soldiers.. yet that offensive killed hundreds of non-combatants... hence why the Israeli government was trying to defend itself against U.N. actions on their behaviour. Sorry, I forgot what the U.N. paper was called that covered this scenario.

Suffice to say this is something that has been going on for thousands of years.. but we live in Today, not the Old Testament Times and what the Israeli Government is doing to these people in Gaza is no less than Genocide.. as they have claimed on record since the inception of the Israeli State.

Don't get me wrong, I am not siding with either side. For me Israeli's and Palestinian's are Human Beings both deserving of a decent life without the carnage we so often DO NOT SEE because of the Enforced Media Blackouts.

What I do see is the Inequality of Life between the Israeli people and the being-exterminated Palestinian people. I would desire for All The People to stand up and tell their governments to stop the carnage and allow people to live where they wish, as Equals.

This is what happens when Israel has power and no one to say no to them. This is terrible. But many of the Islamic groups are also guilty of crime.

And they should be continued to be discussed continually to bring home what we have become as a spieces. This was and is genocide. The fact that it can be dismissed because its been discussed before says more about what we have become than the pictured do.

Well, when you put it that way. What did the Native Americans do? Like I said I don't think Israel is right either, but that is war. Someone is going to overcome the other. If you do not want to be exterminated, surrender is the only option. But to get angry at Israel for using more force than their enemy is like getting mad at a sports team for having a better team.

I think the Native Americans fought to save the land they were born in, and were slaughtered mercilessly.. man, woman and child.. by the incoming white peoples. But we are talking a long time ago, the world is a different place and we human beings should have learned at least something by now, you'd think.

Surrender is no choice for those in Gaza. And it would not be for me. I prefer to stand and die than live on my knees, as I am sure those people are attempting to now.

What would you do? Watching your children starve, watching simple diseases spread because medical supplies are prevented from coming to your area, having no clean water because the overlords turned it off and slaughtering hundreds of your own people.. family and friends. What would you do knowing those same overlords are intent on wiping your race off the planet?

The only suitable options are to fight or live on your knees only long enough to be slaughtered by the overlords at their whim.. and especially when the world media is looking at something else of interest.

The analogy of sports teams does not cut the mustard in this discussion because we are talking about human lives, and the amounts of deadly force via weaponry that is brought to bear on mostly innocent people. Over one thousand Palestinians dead, mostly civilians, in retaliation for less than a handfull of Israeli Soldiers is a bit of overkill anyway you look at it.

Jibeho, no matter the age of the story, this topic is up for discussion, so please do not try to kill the thread so quickly.

These are indeed some very disturnig photos. I fear to comment on any of this as I would hate to be labeled as an anti-semite. War is ugly, but I see alot of women, children and civilians in these photos. I would need to see some photos from the other side of the fence to make any judgement.

If anyone is interested in watching a video about anti-semitism I highly suggest watching this one.

wideeyecinema.com...

"Israeli director Yoav Shamir embarks on a provocative – and at times irreverent – quest to answer the question, “What is anti-Semitism today?” Does it remain a dangerous and immediate threat? Or is it a scare tactic used by right-wing Zionists to discredit their critics? Speaking with an array of people from across the political spectrum (including the head of the Anti-Defamation League and its fiercest critic, author Norman Finkelstein) and traveling to places like Auschwitz (alongside Israeli school kids) and Brooklyn (to explore reports of violence against Jews), Shamir discovers the realities of anti-Semitism today. His findings are shocking, enlightening and – surprisingly – often wryly funny. "
