BRISTOL, Va. – Nineteen-year-old Keshia Canter handed three burgers, fries and milkshakes to a car-load of Tuesday afternoon customers at the Hi-Lo Burger’s drive-though window. A lady sitting in the backseat leaned forward, between the two men in front, and handed her a leaflet: “Women & Girls” it said across the top.

“Even though nothing is showing, you’re being ungodly,” Canter recalled the woman telling her. “You make men want to be sinful.”

Canter was wearing boots pulled up over jeans, a pink zebra-print shirt with a black jacket zipped up over it. She has blond hair, dark eye make-up and a little red lip ring. “I just asked if she needed any salt, pepper or ketchup,” Canter said. “I mean, how do I respond to that?”

Minutes later, Canter’s mother, Pam Yates, who owns the restaurant, returned from the bank. Canter handed her “Women & Girls” and Yates started reading.

“You may have been given this leaflet because of the way you are dressed,” it begins. “Have you thought about standing before the true and living God to be judged?”

Not again! It seems that the fundamental Christians haven't learned that rape has nothing to do with sex. It is about violence and control. Actually it seems as if the Religious right wants to mold society in their narrow Biblical mindset even down to the way people dress, the music they listen to and the way others think.

I find it ironic that the Conservative Christians are always harping on Freedom and personal responsibility but are constantly placing the blame on sin and Satan.

I don't mean this thread as a blanket indictment of all Christians. Most Christians I know are kind beautiful people and abide by the "live and let live" principle but I do know some that are absolute control freaks and hypocrites.

BOOM!!!

Suck on that Religion!!

Isn't part of the whole original sin thing the fact that Adam and Eve copped onto the fact that they are naked?

So by that logic, God wanted us to be naked. So then what's wrong with showing skin?

I really don't like these people that say it's women's fault if they are raped.. Thats twisted.

Now a Burqa would fix our degenerate society, it certainly helped all those Muslims. Women get blamed for everything.

He, he, the religious propaganda, I been trying to find any religious zealot that will address me in the streets face to face and tell me how sinful I look act or am but in all my live that span 4 decades only when I was in high school back home and the fundamentalist movement was starting to infest the Island was the only time that I could hear the sinner, chant all day long.

I grew so a thick skin that I guess it shows on my persona keeping the zealots out and away from me.

People propaganda is such a powerful tool, when geared to the young and gullible it can have very strong effects for many years to come, I am a testimony of it, it makes me rethink my religious believes upbringing and with enough research and studies I came to my own conclusion that "organized religion was a hoax and a lie".

but then again that was just me.

From the article posted in the OP:

"“Scripture tells us that when a man looks on a woman to lust for her he has already committed adultery in his heart. If you are dressed in a way that tempts a men to do this secret (or not so secret) sin, you are a participant in the sin,” the leaflet states. “By the way, some rape victims would not have been raped if they had dressed properly. So can we really say they were innocent victims?”

The hand-out is signed “anonymous.”

Yates was angry.

“What if my daughter had been a rape victim?” she said. “I hope that they never handed this to anyone, especially a young person, who’s been through that and struggles with that daily. And then they get handed something that says they are at fault. I cannot believe that a Christian, someone who walks in God’s shoes, would have made this.”

Leaflet in hand, Yates locked eyes with the old man driving the old white car, still parked in the lot, and stormed outside. The car quickly drove away. "

**************************************************

So we know who ever had these printed up was a COWARD, because it was not signed.

I can tell you one thing, if I had been handed that leaflet, those xians in the car would have been very very sorry, I would have shown them some VERY unxian language, and demanded to know who made this filth.

Of course the coward driving zoomed off before he could defend his actions, probably because he had an erection since men cannot control their urges.

I cannot find an actual copy of the leaflet online.

This happened in Virginia.

I do know Chick makes nasty leaflets.

www.chick.com...

Maybe these old perverts who handed out this leaflet are fans.

Truly, the carload of old people was a car of perverts, all they want is an excuse to focus on young nubile flesh, under the guise of saving them.

PERVERTS, sickos.

MamaBeth,

I'm making this observation with no ill intentions. You said your daughter started cutting herself afterward. Isn't it possible that the rape coupled with the fact that her own mother believed 'she got what she asked for' might have contributed towards her cutting herself?

Also, I'm a little confused with your post. You say your daughter was a victim of date rape, and then you imply she instigated it ( and deserved it) because of the way she was dressed.
