I was reading through news articles this morning and stumbled upon this little snippet.

News Leader

The first line of the article says it all

The White House called for a "simple up-or-down" vote on health care legislation Sunday as Speaker Nancy Pelosi appealed to House Democrats to get behind President Barack Obama's chief domestic priority even it if threatens their political careers.

This speaks volumes. Pelosi and the other politicians know that for the most part their constituents disapprove of the health care package in its current form, but they don't care. Pelosi is saying here vote for it even though you know you will be voted out of office. The politicians want this damn health care bill for their own sakes, not the people and some of them are apparently willing to do whatever it takes to pass it.

Just for the record, this isn't just a slam on Democrats because I strongly believe that if the Republicans were in this exact situation they would act the same way.

The US is no longer run by representatives of the people, it is run by power hunger individuals only looking out for their interests. IMO, the American people need to vote out all of the incumbents in the next election or this will not end well.

It is amazing to me that only4 years ago the Democrats were ranting and raving over the reconciliation process - declaring it a consitutional crisis, an affront to the founding fathers and an abrogation of democracy. Yet, today they are doing EXACTLY what they railed against. In my opinion, that makes them hypocrites. To be an equal opportunity "basher", the REpublicans who now cry foul over the process attempted to do EXACTLY this same thing 4 years ago - which of course makes them hypocrites as well.

Folks, I seriously doubt that "Voting them out" will change a damned thing! The corporatocracy will simply replace their career puppets with new puppets who will continue down this same path. Witness Obama and all of the "hope and change" hype which has resulted in exactly NO HOPE and NO CHANGE!

How can we as citizens trust our representatives when they refuse to do the work of the people? The entire elections proces has been hijacked by the corporatocracy/plutocracy/meritocracy and the only candidates ever presented to the people are puppets of these elites. Redress of grievances have been cast aside and our rights are being whittled away. I am hoping that the military, respecting their oath to defend the republic against ALL enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC, will excute a velvet coup and run ALL of these sheisters out of office so that we, THE PEOPLE, may reconstitute a government OF the people, BY the people and FOR the people.

The time is NOW. If we wait any longer to wrestle control in a peaceful way, we will have no choice but to resort to revolution. I hear the clock ticking....

I respectfully disagree.

If the representatives that the people elected actually listened to their constituents then the people would have a voice. The issue here is the people's representation has gone rogue.

The leadership in this country, the US, is a terrible disappointment. It's not just Obama, Pelosi and Reid, it's the previous administration too.

These people are in a mad rush to pass as much of their legislative agenda as possible before the bottom falls out of the economy completely. Some of these politicians won't be returning to Washington after the fall elections.

I guess they don't care, they can always be lobbyists or get a no show job on some companies board of directors. What is funny is the number of their followers and hanger ons that will have a more difficult time finding soft cushy jobs.

When all your efforts fail, stop and think. You probably have gotten hold of a bad assumption and it's sabotaging you each time you try to act. Because the assumption is part of your personality, it influences everything you do and so it all fails.

If you've ever searched the house for your glasses only to find them on your head, or gone looking for your keys only to find them in your pocket or hand, you know how frustrating it is to carry the cause of your failure with you.

When we talk about civilization change, we're talking about changing such an assumption -- and in doing so, changing society at its most fundamental pivot point. If we're insisting up is down, to insist up is up becomes a radical act, and one that most people will violently oppose.

Then twenty years later, it becomes the norm, and we wonder how people could have been "so ignorant" as to oppose it.

Since the 1500s, when our liberal revolution started, the world has been moving on two fronts. The first is technology, which would have expanded with time anyway; the second is toward a liberal democratic view of the universe, which we recognize as modern liberalism.

their nature free, equal, rational, and morally good.
The assumption of liberalism is that we needed a justification for throwing out the kings and idea of God, so we created a new notion: equality. In it we're all the same, or at least should be, so we'll act that way. In order to assume equality, we have to assume that we're all good, intelligent, and capable of making the right decision if only we're given the right opportunities, education, and information.

We've been working on this assumption since the pompously titled "The Enlightenment," which was essentially a scam. People wanted to get rid of kings and the assumption that there was a divine right, or even single right way, to do anything -- even if it was based on reality and the gods were a symbol for how reality worked, much like science is a symbolic representation of reality.

All of our bloviation about "equality" and "morality" is not the reason for our actions, but the justification for them. Kind of like when you accidentally buy an extra quart of ice cream, and then guiltily shrug it off with "well, we'll use it anyway eventually" even though you're planning to take it off to the TV room and eat the whole thing.

We need to change from doing things electively "because they're right" to doing things practically "because they work." Liberal logic works backward: we act as we want to as individuals, then find a justification through a universal, abstract and absolute good like equality, altruism, justice, etc.

Conservative logic works differently. We study the world, find what is possible, and then work toward it. Instead of using backward logic where we justify ex post facto our actions, we set a goal and strive toward it, recognizing that a pure result -- an emotionally and personally satisfying one -- is unlikely. But we do what is right nonetheless.

In turn, this makes us re-consider evidence that happy people make exploratory decisions, and sad people make painful but repetitive decisions. This part of human nature means that 99% of the people active at any given time are repeating a failed idea, as if waiting for a tiny awakened minority to start exploring a better path. Not necessarily a new path; just a less obsolete one.

Reading that knowledge into history, we can see that our worldwide flirtation with liberalism has continued because we are miserable, and so keep repeating the sad logic of the last 500 years while not re-checking our assumptions. As multiple problems with our environment and social instability cannot be checked any longer, look for a sea change away from the liberal ideal toward a pragmatic, conservative one.

Nancy Pelosi, is singing to the choir on this one. She has no authority to enforce much of anything in terms of voting practices among members of the House. This bill is not going anywhere and it will die as Hillary Clinton's did in the 1990's. For one, it is too complicated. Two, it is phenomenally expensive. Three, it walks the line of being tyrannical in terms of enforcing the concept of mandating healthcare. Lastly, the Democrats are going retreat on this one very soon, because they want to keep power as much as any politician.

So, this demand by Pelosi will find its way to deaf ears, even among her own party. This thing is dead, and she will be on her way out in November. She is walking on thin ice, and now she is showing signs of desperation. In other words, her jig is up and people are growing tired of her. So, lets not jump to conclusions here, and the system is still capable of working out the kinks we have before us. However, what concerns me the most is the clannish mentality among the members of the legislature. There has to be moderation, and the business of government must go on. Some of these disputes are justified, but if this rhetoric continues it could plunge the nation into a state of emergency.

The vitriol between the two parties is downright vicious, and they put on the appearance that they are civil and willing to compromise. However, when the rubber meets the road, much of the time they are not. As a result, nothing gets done and government is in gridlock. Situations such as the one before us are when tyranny has the opportunity to show its ugly head out of the shadows. That is what scares me, not Ms. Pelosi's whining.

This whole thing is political suicide. The question is why this is the most important issue facing us today. I know the tin foil thinking that there is an agenda at play, but what else could it be.

As I see this playing out, it makes me wonder if the Bilderberg group didn't give Obama a mandate to carry out during his administration. He and Hillary were both present for the meeting.

Our country is bankrupt, but somehow the government taking control of 1/6 of the economy, spending a trillion (which we know will be much, much more), while taxing us now for this and the results not seen for at least 3 to 4 years makes absolutely no freakin' sense.

All of them are liars and deserve to go. I'd almost call this a distraction and think that the money will be going to something else or to somebodys. They've already made references to using this for social security.

Bill Maher says that the average citizen isn't smart enough to understand policy. What else needs to be said. All administrations play on the fears of the weakest amongst us.

I don't believe the tea party movement should join forces with the GOP. That would be the death of the moevement. It is time for INDEPENDENTS to excercise their political muscles. The status quo can't and won't be tolerated any longer.

Star and Flag!

I wish someone would someone would post a video of Nancy Pelosi vomiting.

It would be so much better to see that than the usual 'Excrement' coming out of her mouth.

Government......

By the Elite, for the Elite!
