Here's a video of the find. www.youtube.com...

Really shows the scale of it. Imagine the fun you would have had if you were a kid and found it!

There must be plenty of buyers out there for hard as hell, durable tanks like the T-72, T-80.

Read what i posted again..Im saying that they ARE NOT being moved...they are being stolen for the black market, and yes it can happen even with tanks, or sold illegally to another country.

Hmmmmm, you could be onto something there. I just checked out the google map to see where these tanks were found. It was in a forest outside the city of Yekaterinburg.

maps.google.co.uk...,+Province+of+Sverdlovsk,+Yekaterinburg&gl =uk&ei=--aKS5b1Eo300gTz4ujOCw&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CAsQ8gEwAA

It is quite a way from the southern border with Gerogia, which you would think would be the most likely point of a Russian excursion into the Middle East, although not that far away for it to be ruled out.

It is close to the border of Kazakhstan which would be another route through to Iran. I assume Iran is what you are referring to?

I agree with you on this one. What is their destination? Reminds me of the movie "Battle of the Bulge" when the Germans massed their tanks in the forest staging for the eventual surprise attack on the Allied lines.

Doesn't seem too far of a stretch to me to assume these tanks were being pre-deployed and somewhat hidden for a move to the Middle East if Iran were to be attacked.

Going to do some searching and see if there are any major railways in the area

I think this is the Russian equivilent of a used car tent sale.

Apparently you can examine the merchandise, including starting them up (Perhaps even test driving them and test firing them) before making an offer. I imagine if you just stop in at the local bar and express an interest someone will be able to show you round and help you with your purchase negotations.

That is a huge amount of tanks. Though they do have a massive area to defend/attack from. Wikipedia puts the amount at 22,000. en.wikipedia.org...-84

Could the tanks have been part of some rogue operation? Something to do with Chechnya? Or any of ther other areas of Russia looking to secede from the county?

If the keys were in there would you steal one? Having your very own free tank sounds very tempting.
