MoD to destroy future UFO reports

Britain's official UFO investigation unit and hotline were closed down at the start of December.Since then reports of strange sights in the skies sent to the MoD have been kept for 30 days before being thrown out, the newly released policy document shows.

After closing the UFO investigation unit in December, all new UFO sighitng get sent straight to MoD. I wonder why? They say it's because theres better way's to use these people, and that UFO investgation is little to do with defence. But could there be another reason?
And also, there seems to be a hell of a lot more UFO sightings last year then throughout the rest of the decade...
