Haiti, Chile, Japan....
All within a month.
I believe there was a 3.8 in Chicago a few weeks ago.
Volcano watch recently as well (which country was that again?)

This is unprecedented.
What is going on?

thanks redeyedwonder

Actually the one in Chicago was only 3.8, but yes it did happen...

I did notice that they seem to be following solar flares lately, just my opinion, but to often to ignore...

Just a thought.

A broken watch is right at least twice a day.

I have been reading for over a year now predictions that these things would be happening leading up to 2012 and the Galactic Alignment.

Who knows? Maybe some of it is right..

Does anybody have a globe the can stick with pins to mark the locations?
Patterns?
Chile, Haiti and Japan are relatively close latitude-wise. The Indonesia earthquake of 2004 is there as well.

Unprecedented? You say that with such certainty.

So certain in fact that you must have researched worldwide statistics and found evidence of an increase right?

Can you please share this research with us?

Thanks in advance!

This link is interesting and was put up on Jim Berkland's site forum. Witj Japan/Chile falling under this SuperMoon - I wonder if more are due in the next day or two?

www.astropro.com...

It says:

Bear in mind that we’re still under some pretty strong geocosmic storm and seismic signals this month, particularly at the beginning and end. The January 30 SuperMoon lingers, though only through the 2nd, a sign that February has a stormy, rumbly start . . . and finish too, what with another SuperMoon on the 28th. Between the 7.2-magnitude that hit the Solomon Islands on January 4, and the 7.0 that ravaged Haiti on the 12th, you can get some idea of what to expect in early and late February, under the SuperMoons of January 30 and February 28.

Earthquakes on the Rise...What is Happening?

Haiti, Chile, Japan....
All within a month.

What is going on?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
a combination of stresses on the Earth's crust...
the moon in periogee, the stresses caused by the moons position,
aligned with the Sun = new moon
the moon aligned behind the Earth = full moon
also during the course of months, the Earths mantle allows the crust to
ride in a slow movement, plate tectonics.
underground, some existing voids or faults increase in stress from this movement,
and viola' those underground stress points snap, causing the earthquake on the surface... a lot of underground shifting takes place without the surface getting shaken.
so its the earth-sun-moon tidal forces and the plate tectonics
then its the underground stresses & fractures, even voids or sliding strata
that finally work the way to the surface.
or else the Greek Pantheon of Olympians are having sport with the humans below. even as the winter olympics are underway, & the Greek economy is near default... the gods have to get our attention somehow
We have these every year. An 8.8 once a year, and the magnitude 6's quite often, and magnitude 7's are fairly common as well.
Mag 3,4,5 are all everyday occurrences somewhere near faultlines. It shouldn't be a surprise that earthquakes occur next to large fault lines.
Since humans now populate more of the planet than previously, there's a greatly likelihood that quakes will occur nearer population zones than before. It's unlikely we're seeing more quakes than previously.
At least wait for the whole year to pass before passing judgement on whether this year sees more earthquakes than usual. It may just even itself out throughout the year.
I am by no means an expert on earthquakes, but according to the USGS, there has only been one more "significant earthquake" this year, than last year at this time.
DATE MAG LOCATION
1/3/2009 7.4 Indonesia
1/3/2009 7.7 Indonesia
1/8/2009 6.1 Costa Rica
1/9/2009 4.5 Los Angeles
1/15/2009 7.4 Kuril Islands
1/15/2009 6.7 Loyalty Islands
1/18/2009 6.4 Kermadec Islands
1/19/2009 6.6 Loyalty Islands
1/24/2009 5.8 Alaska
1/30/2009 4.5 Seattle
2/3/2009 3.0 New York
2/11/2009 7.2 Indonesia
2/18/2009 7.0 Kermadec Islands
DATE MAG LOCATION
1/3/2010 7.1 Solomon Islands
1/3/2010 6.6 Solomon Islands
1/5/2010 6.8 Solomon Islands
1/7/2010 4.1 San Francisco
1/10/2010 6.5 N. California
1/12/2010 7.0 Haiti
1/15/2010 4.0 Oklahoma
1/20/2010 5.9 Haiti
2/1/2010 6.2 Papua New Guinea
2/4/2010 5.9 N. California
2/10/2010 3.8 Illinois
2/18/2010 6.9 China/Russia/N Korea
2/26/2010 7.0 Japan
2/27/2010 8.8 Chile
USGS
It seems that they base significance on both size and novelty of location.
Whole damn planet's starting to unravel. It's comin unglued. Comin apart at the seems. Pretty soon chunks will start fall'in off. Just remember it's not like we weren't told of these things.
Our planet is doing what it has to do to correct it's self. It does have a mind of it's own. Unfortunately, again and again man is in it's way.
Why is this any different than any other year,decade,century? Population has grown from about 3.0 billion in 1960 to almost 7.0 billion today. We "notice" earthquakes more and report on them faster and world-wide due to media.
We can have high anxiety and say "the world is changing" or we can say "it's more of the same, it's natural". Rational minds will realize just how natural this is and trajedy happens if we're not prepared. If we build poorly like the buildings in Haiti and near a fault line - you get tragedy. If an 8.8 occurred in a non-populated zone - few would care.
Scientifically and rationally, this is a normal way of life for our living planet.
