What a patriot!!!

At least he said no to the socialisms.

Are you kidding?

People need to go and create jobs and the business's that are the future of tomorrow.

Yea, that sounds great! Hurry! Let's go get a loan from the bank! Oh, thats right, the banks that we bailed out aren't lending start up capital to people unless they have absolutely stellar credit. So you average mom & pop entrepreneur aren't going to get that loan from them to start up that business they have always dreamed about in an economy where consumer confidence is near record lows.

Wealthfare just makes lazy people lazier which is why they are unemployed in the first place. Thank god this man stands for freedoms, my hates off to him!

good bles America!

Lazy? Many of these people were laid off of jobs because the economy tanked! They aren't lazy! They are just unemployed. I hope you were joking about this, because look around, some states just don't have the jobs, and these people have no means to move to someplace new.

They aren't lazy at all, there just aren't any real jobs out there!

Unemployment is not welfare. There are several prerequisites that one must adhere to including: working and making a minumum amount of money within the last fiscal quarter, not being dismissed from your job for misconduct, not resigning from your former place of employment, and meeting minimum work search requirements every week.

I agree that there are several welfare programs that make for less productive citizens, but unemployment is not one of them.

Now...If most of the senators peers disagree with his stance (I would hope that they do) he can be removed from his seat. The state of KY does not allow for a recall of a senator by the citizens, but art. 1, sec. 5 of the constitution allows the senate to reprimand and remove one of its own.

Each House shall be the Judge of the Elections, Returns and Qualifications of its own Members, and a Majority of each shall constitute a Quorum to do Business; but a smaller number may adjourn from day to day, and may be authorized to compel the Attendance of absent Members, in such Manner, and under such Penalties as each House may provide.

Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behavior, and, with the Concurrence of two-thirds, expel a Member.

In another article I read about it he said Tough S**t about blocking the unemployment extension. This guy is retiring with a pension I believe of close to 245,000 dollars a year with full medical. Add to the fact that he will lobby and this guy won't break a sweat to make 2 to 4 million dollars a year just going to his old buddies and getting deals for his new employeer. The useful idiots who back guys like this should look in a mirror sometime. Many of us will never see a retirement package that good, heck we can go our whole lives working and not even have 50,000 dollars in savings let alone a retirement year after year in the millions. And then he comes up to us and say Tough S**t to the extension of unemployment benefits because it's too expensive. Thats your man, thats who you look out for to stop that guy called Obama and everything else he's doing. Yes Obama isn't perfect I know that, but at least he's trying to do something that will benefit PEOPLE for a change and not just rich corporations and/or rich execs.

Welfare and food stamps.

But it takes time and bureaucracies involved have intentionally slowed the process.

Many state welfare funds are being slashed, as states are all dealing with massive budget deficits.... I wouldn't be surprised to see the SHTF in California first.

Yeah there's the program called homeless. You could also go with 'Hoovervilles' or the upcoming 'Bunningvilles'. When unemployment runs out you're screwed, the end of the road. Say hello to the streets and goodbye to your kids because Child Services will be coming because apparently you aren't a good enough parent!

Start digging through the survival forum threads now, just in case.

Be prepared for anything!

Having things get crazy with Obama in the white house and a democrat majority in congress may be a calculated political move.

If they cut off millions of people things could get very ugly.

The problem is, once it starts and spreads it may be extremely difficult to stop.

Maybe the republican party wants the system to fail the people.

Then it will all be Obama's fault!

Makes sense actually, there will be about 30-50% of these people whom will think this was Obama's decision personally. No doubt when this congressman is back in his district he will paint it that way also.

I'm not a American, I'm only thinking of the "what now".

Some say tent city, some say welfare .

Yes. It's one thing to not want to spend more money and get the USA more in debt. It's also one thing to want to cut welfare programs or change them so that people aren't abusing the system but...this has nothing to do with either. This man is an @$$, What was he thinking? By standing in the way of this, he's not making a political statement or standing up for conservative values, he's just hurting people without jobs.

Welfare is if you actually have a job or a disability. You could always get food stamps, at least you will have food to put in your tent!

I'll tell you what is going to happen.

They are going to make drastic cuts on social spending...but war spending will keep up.

Tax cuts for the rich and corporations as well.

This is what they want. If people don't actually start standing up for themselves and fellow citizens we are going to look like China and other slave labor countries.

We are going to lose everything.

I know what it's like to be unemployed. Not only does it suck....but I felt degraded. I felt like a lesser human being. I felt like a bum and I was embarrassed that people knew I wasn't working. Luckily, at the time, I was able to find another job within a few months.

It's not possible to do now. Hang in there folks. Fight for yourselves. Don't take this BS and don't feel any less of yourself because you are unemployed.

Hang in there...I'm with ya.

I wonder if they've even considered the devastation to the main frame, these folks can cause by simply collecting copper wire to feed their families?
Is this it?
Is this where it all begins to be dismantled?
What they just said is," looks like you're gonna starve".

Hey, if nobody is going to stand up for the American way I will be the stand in until the
the real Americans show up. Until then I know all the moves, professional here and will fill the void. Silence tends to be the way to kill OP's threads, ignore and pretend it does not exist. So I will do the job of devil advocate my friends. The dance is not hard and it has the same steps regardless of the tune.

We are in tremendous debt people, we cannot afford to give people something for doing nothing. If people are hungry they better start moving their butts because this isn't the USSR. We could fix this in a week, how???

ELIMINATE MINIMUM WAGE

just think of all these unemployed people that could be working because the boss has more money to hire more people. If we eliminated minimum wage these people could get multiple jobs and things would improve. Or they can go out there and start a small business, but the nanny state does not want free people like that so they offer you wealthfare to keep you lazy!

I'm with you too, David. No sane person wants to be on welfare or food stamps - it just isn't enough money to have a decent life and most people really want to work and do their best and make a contribution to society and take care of their families. That's the truth.

No one should feel bad if they are unemployed now and they're trying. In the meantime keep trying to better yourself and maintain your self worth, keep learning. I believe the American worker has been devalued for a long time and made to feel guilty and that's just BS. You are good people!

I have a small business , three employees and Me.

If the Min wage was Elim, I could fire the 3 making 20 bucks a hr,

and hire 3 for 6 bucks a hour.

I wouldn't , but most will.
