for once i made the first post on a large quake . .

tsumi may be in effect dont know yet but will update as i get more info.

No reports of tsunamis yet, but it's still to early to tell....

I really hope this turns out to be nothing serious..

CNN said it happened 50 miles east of Okinawa. There are no reports of a tsunami yet but CNN said it takes a 8.0 or more to creat a tsunami like the one in 2005. Well all we can do is wait and see now.

That is a heavy duty earthquake! How close is this to the Islands , and how is the outlook on Tsunami? I believe the depth of the quake will determnine the Tsunami being brought forth. Posidon must be mad!

they are lucky that they get big quakes frequently so they built for large quakes. This however is a huge quake and I would be afraid of the damage that this could cause along with the size of the wave it could produce.

Hopefully this will be a blip in the news but it sure feels like this will be the year we see many destructive quakes.

Does anyone else agree that this feels like the earth having birth pangs and is about to give birth to a new age?

The ring of fire is surely acting up within the last couple of years. Every time I hear about a quake anywhere I start running through others I've heard about in my head. There was even an earthquake in Chicago not to long ago, which really worried me here in Kansas City. I thought that except for tornadoes and droughts I was pretty much disaster-proof. Now I'm wondering if I should by more insurance or not bother, just in case there's no world left once the crap gets done hitting the fan.
