Oh yeah, believe the pigs are your friends and they're out to help you. That's how they entrap the majority of innocent people who are unjustly imprisoned in this country. But again, don't take my word for it, take it from the cop in the second half of this video -- first half is a lawyer so skip that part if you want:

Fact remains that as a percentage of population this country imprisons FOUR TIMES more of its own people than communist China and TWO TIMES more than Iran. Politicians and lawyers don't make arrests, it's the Nazi foot soldiers on the street who do that.

www.nytimes.com...

The United States has less than 5 percent of the world’s population. But it has almost a quarter of the world’s prisoners.

And lastly, here's how you should handle a similar situation when some local yokel Rosco P. Coltrane type thinks he can harass you just because you look funny:

Gotcha, unfortunately currently although intelligence gathering is growing, intelligence(sic) to gather is shrinking.....
Sorry couldn't resist, but, again thanks for the input.

When you yourself drag it into public by posting on a public forum,
It is no longer private.

You cannot possibly hope to protect your rights if you don't even understand what they are.

If they dig into your computer, they're in your private life. If they tap your phone, that's an invasion. Reading what you publicly post isn't an invasion of your privacy ONCE YOU POST IT PUBLICLY.

Don't even start presuming I haven't known what technological capabilities are available for way more years than you've obviously been alive.

This is going nowhere fast. Have fun with whatever it is you're doing.

So you are both out catching criminals "Scumbags" or should be and you both use company time to talk about ATS..... Ahh yes because thats where the real criminals are.

STOP PRESS, FBI VISIT ATS.

Big Deal, the frigging Queen of England probably nips on here from time to time. Who gives a monkeys, at least they know how much we hate them.

I know I'm on a public forum and the government can see these websites. All I'm saying is that they're actively monitoring them. And they shouldn't waste their time with us unless they have a reason to do so. They have better things to do than to get kicks out of conspiracy forums.

The issue is that the government is monitoring your behavior. That is right there a restriction of what you can or cannot do. It would be different if it was someone else doing it like a private company, but, the government sets the rules and that's the problem. I don't like their presence on this website.

It doesn't really have to do with privacy per se, but, I want to know why the heck they're wasting their time here, and, unless they have a nefarious objective they have no reason to be here at all. They can watch individual users if they really have done something wrong. But they have to have a reason for monitoring this site... and I don't think that this is something they do normally.

Don't even start presuming I haven't known what technological capabilities are available for way more years than you've obviously been alive.

Okay, then what would make you think that the government isn't monitoring your PC data, or, your individual actions? I've kind of assumed they have a big database of all of our actions probably in the NSA somewhere. I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

Whether federal agents are here or not....

Do not be afraid to speak the truth whether any one else agrees with it or not.

Having said that....

The only thing really interesting on this site anyway are the news stories.

I doubt any federal agent is going find any useful information searching through pages of endless pages of discussion, documenting people going back and forth with each other about this that and the other.

Hold on... I think something's coming through the wire...

ATS + FBI = IF BATS
(Yes. This makes sense. Batty lunatics always posing "What if" scenarios)

ATS + FBI = SF BAIT
(Indeed. Fodder for Science Fiction enthusiasts)

ATS + FBI = STIF AB
(Yes, a tightening of the stomach, I experience it frequently on this website)

ATS + FBI = FAST BI
(And I have met at least one bisexual who is a sprinter on ATS)

My God. This rabbit hole is much deeper than I ever suspected!

That's why I am a member of ATS Mr. FBI man. Have a nice day.

They can ask, hell I can ask, but you don't have to comply. As long as you are not on a roadway, and you are not breaking any laws, and you are polite and firm, they will probably just move on along. There have been a couple of occassions that I decided to sternly defend my individual rights, and the police were professional enough to move on along.

The problem is that most people are either too intimidated, or too beligerant to pull it off. It doesn't do any good to get all loud and defensive, and it doesn't do any harm to politely say either yes or no, and it doesn't do any harm for the policeman to ask.

If a suspicious car was parked outside my business for some extended period of time, I would be happy to have an officer come by and talk to them. I have used that approach many times, and the car usually leaves shortly afterwards.

Good Job to RC for doing his job proactively. No rights were violated.

Of course they're here.

I too had an encounter with an agent some time ago, and interestingly enough ATS was also a subject of the conversation/interrogation. However it was hardly friendly, and his opinion of ATS was less than favorable. I didn't have the means to verify his credentials or "run a check" on anything... He seemed like the real deal and was looking for more than casual conversation.

What are the odds?

This guy must have been the evil twin of the one you ran into.

There have been others who are/were members of ATS who have had interesting encounters, all of which will remain nameless. It begs the question...

How are they finding them?

You can call me paranoid if you want, but until they approach you and start throwing out questions about your internet activity and in particular people you have communicated with online.. Don't judge me.

They are not all quite so friendly.

Who is "they?" What is "actively monitoring?" And why should they get their kicks any other way than the way you and I do?

I have never heard of a single law enforcement officer being "ordered" by his agency to "monitor" a site like this. I do know many law enforcement officers that "participate" on these sites by their own free will and for their own informational and entertainment purposes.

I know there are a lot of technological systems in place to monitor phone calls and web chatter and such, and I think that is fine. It helps protect us from foreign threats, and it is not admissable in court unless they have a specific warrant for the information they obtained. They CANNOT routinely monitor a call to your cousin in Miami as part of a National Defense Objective and then turn around and audit your taxes based off the conversation or search your home for your homemade porn collection. It doesn't work that way. If you are already a suspect and a Judge issues a warrant to wire tap you for porn or taxes, then you are in trouble.

So, the "They" you are talking about is probably some NSA or CIA or DOD computer system via the Patriot Act and it is searching for specific patterns of word combinations. It is not your local FBI or DHS agent that you see on the street corner or at the bank.

I ran into our Attorney General and next Governor of Florida, Bill McCullom at Publix a few nights ago, and he was on his way home to cook up some chicken and if he chose to log into ATS after that, I would be honored, but I wouldn't think that he was on some sinister mission. He may in fact be taking the temperature of the populace as you put it earlier, but it would be a Great Thing, and it would be for his personal use, not any conspiracy.

in short, of course the FBI visits this site, they want to know just how much is known about what really goes on behind closed doors...

Weird that he would ask a random police officer about ATS. He must be observing you because of your association with this web sight. I would "disappear" myself ASAP if I where you. The FEDs must have you in their sights.

ok, i heard it many times "they" need a warrant to search your home or whatnot, but what interests me is how hard or easy to get a hold of such a warrant? i would imagine it`s isnt that hard especially if you are "in the clique". piece of cake if you did a certain judge a favor in the past?

I am sure it is very easy for some people to get a warrant and very hard for others, but either way it is subject to appeal, so if a warrant was issued without cause, then all the fruits of that search and any subsequent evidence will be thrown out on appeal.

What a PITA, but that is our legal system.

Weird. Here in Georgia and in my area (yes the area I patrol) I can name atleast 20 guys who have more than 50 guns and every bit of 100,000 rounds of ammo stored. Gas masks, MRE's, etc....and we don't bother them. Makes me wonder if there is more to this or if MASS is just that liberal.

In my county as a whole there are A LOT of guns. Hell I know of 6 class III owners who own machine guns and have for years....never executed a search warrant at their homes either. Hmmmmm...again, must be MASS or this guy upset someone up there that has pull....

Are you sure your not being watched by the FBI To find out who your friends are.

[edit on 25-2-2010 by JBA2848]

Well I would be ashamed of the FBI for not knowing who the gun shop owners are. I mean they are GUN SHOP OWNERS....but the ones who do use tax stamps and have class III permits are all registered with the ATF....since the FBI really doesn't get to too involved in the weapons side of things....even though they will make it appear so to make themselves look good...even though the ATF did all the leg work.

Here is a nice test you go and ask your friendly fbi friends or above, ask them to explain the term

1) termites

2) waste

If and when you do decide to ask those two simple questions, i suggest you hold onto to your sanity as your in for the ride of your life.
