Nice thread

Now imagine all the other wonders we have yet to discover

I am gaining more respect for you on a daily basis. This is a really well done thread. Our solar system seems so insignificant compared to others. The size of those stars is beyond belief, and I can only imagine what they would look like in our daytime sky!!

The original "Starship Enterprise", from the iconic TV series 'Star Trek', as imagined in the 1960s (well, premiered, on NBC, September 1968...) has been 'nailed down' as 1,017 feet in length.

Compare to the "NCC-1701D" Enterprise, from the "Next Generation" which is roughly TWICE the size, in length, but has more than FOUR times the volume, in habitable area......

Yeah, all SF, they are.....but, considering the OP, and sizes....WE HUMANS are still going to be about the same size, regardless HOW we explore outside, and off-planet Earth....SO we will need machines that can accomodate us in that endeavour.

SIZE DOES MATTER!!! (And Matter matters, in terms of 'size'....so far as we know today...)

Great thread, seen this pictures before, helps us understand but we can never actually realize how small we actually are.

No life out there? Pfttt its harder to prove there isnt life than is. Fact.

just goes to show the universe is so large with so many things in it that are often incomprehensible.

Man isn't the center of creation. Something religion has to come to terms with.

...holy #, i feel really really really really really tiny right now.

It's like human beings are like an ant farm, holy # wow, we are sooo dead lol

im sorry but looking how big suns get, im happy with the one we have now , but DAMN those suns were HUGE like GODDAMN ..wow.....words ...aren't enough..to discribe....feeling in brain right now

scared mixed with curiousity laced with "GEEZ HOLY GOD DAMN WE ARE SOO DOOMED!!!"

im kidding im sure we will be ....fine lol

seeing these pics. just reminded me of how much of an insignificant speck on the arse of the universe we are we are like micro scopic beings compared to the other solar bodys out there i was so suprised to see how our sun is absoulutly nothing compared to the biggest known sun like i mean we are so tiny and then the government doesent help with this either

Biggest thing in this universe is a base- 12 life form with a mass index of one complete universal constant (wieght of one metric mass times 100 completionaries). Would have a universal weight of 200 gravidic cores (spend fuel cores generated by the reacuring reaction of the big bang two every 1 trillion years one for time and gravidy going in both directions. They are composed of pure Neutronium(5 nitrogen molecules, 2co2, 1 molecule of any type. They are aproximatly the width of of one average solar system wich is the range of gas giants to the outer rims of even the ones in this solar system. The exlosion of a galactic core is left over from certain viloent galactic cluster explsions some which produce super heated galaxies ones that simply just rotate a bit quicker. these cores collect at the center of each of these glaactic cores 3 in every 30 10% creates a super grey whole a combination black whole pulsar - not gravity but conductivity - would cause anomolise in the entire galatic cluster would warp particles. Life evovled differently in these clusters because they would only be able to move to only other of these clusters only 10% of actualness

The mini universe theory a universe that is only one half the size of this universe only one half its metric. however these universes are bouble oriented meaning they exist in folds of time so as long as only a small part was exposed they would only appear to ocupy basicly the width of a small rocky planet about 50,000 km in diameter but small by comparison to the actual size of the universe. Mini bouble universes are on a 1/2 scale but only ocupy less than a micro percentile size wise based on actual desnity. In these universis time is condensed by a factor of 2 so it moves twice as fast a minute to you would be 30 seconds to someone in one of these universis. Time and gravitation are the only things halved everything else is multiplied by 2 to allow for quicker adaptations for life. The whole point of a mini bouble universe is to produce a form of life called an isomorphic colesent, takes aproximatly over 5 trillion years to create. these organisms are 110 parces in diamater when created(350 light years distant) they exist in the complete universe in only few million during its life time. They live however for as long as they were gestated for so 5 trillion year life span. They would spend about half trillion year cycles in specific galaxies only ones with centers because they would need to stay energised by a galaxies core with the condensed stars. These creaturs are used for galactic milk a fluidic compound used by any life at about a 500 billion evolution point - beings so advanced they make up most of the percentage of the universe now and even at the end. Galactic milk is composed of sponse energized broken down soft particluates the smallest of the small particles you can find - would be like the milk of the gods for these beings would allow for hyper evolution at a rate of 100 times faster than normal a cheat but only temporary for cergtain species at certain times. These creatures even though over 350 light years accross would be covered with so many different organisms on average no bigger than any animalistic life to be completly covered because they usually dont exist in the universe in less than about one per galactic cluster at any point in the universe about 500 at time every 5 trillion years. Wihtout these giant space cows life could not evolve fast enough when it had too at certain points of devolpment. For example evolve 1 trillion years in 100 bilion instead. These creatures are composed of an average content of all the molecule combinations currently available in the current universe. Chemical combinations become endless after a point after 2000 in number which equals the chemical compound Spectorvarium(no atomic weight or color spectrum, composed of a partial helium atom all the particles are halfed. identified as h2(1/2)(!1,I0) means halved then squared it halves itself then creates a reaction twice as big as before. however it always uses half power every cycle but producing twice as much reaction. Technology is galled centralised gravidics 1 trillion years in advanced in terms of after life starts on any planet. this tehnology allows for processing of power needed in greater amounts than the universe can actualy produce. When the big milk cows arent around for nurishment species between1-15 trillion years becomes always on a race for power consumtion through anything they can find - they dont conquer for resource they scavange inaminite material. they could just start comsuming a nickle plated coper mantle iron core 3.7 km wide astriod in some random solar system. problem is an astriod would be comsumed every several hours and have to be maintaned for days. So even advanced species have to constantly scoure the universe through time and place for nurishment. The biggest chemical used for consumtion is nitrogen which is in any and all nitrite basicly in any gas luigid or solid state material. Nitrogen is big becuase it is the first molecule that can self sustain its own reaction which can be used like a molecular damn to produce any amount of power you could ever need. At certain points of evolution you become basicly a giant particulate baleen whale that would take large portions of space and sift them for any unused electrified particle which is every one even dark matter which is where these creatures reside in the dark patches of space. These uinversal baleen whales are biolumenecent in space but not visable unless you bounce a x-ray off them they are completly composed of moving bone they have no skin layer only a polarsation chamber composed of fiber crystailised silicates which are used to drain the charge from any particle in the universe They exist in groups of millions that move and drain dark matter like groups of schools of fish. These creatures never evolve because their envirnments never change. they are in actualy a highly evolved form of grasing specices. these giant bone whales that use dark matter as sustanance. Dark matter areas on average hundreds of billions of light years accross. These beasts are called magnetocentric-monogrypths. They dont evolve but they can be used if lost for power or instant transport to anywhere you wanted. They are 100km arcoss but weigh only one tenth their mass due to Helium Enriched Calcium Potassium Chloride Sodi

its not just our complexity that makes us wonderous as well. we're also made of the most rare and precious elements in the universe.

Hi,

I'm surprised at the awe reserved for stars when they are the smallest ( and that is being generous) 'building blocks' in terms of cosmological models! Galaxies and Galactic clusters are were things start getting interesting but yes, then the numbers start to actually get significant in terms of cosmic scale even if they become incomprehensible to people who think stars are big....

If this failure of imagination on the scale of events and absence of knowledge were not so significant in the conspiracy realm i guess it wouldn't have mattered much....

And what is with all this banter about human insignificance? We got nukes and industrial farming fifty years ago and according to some we have already ruined this planet? Does anyone seriously believe that the galaxy is 'safe' from intelligence or that the human saga will play itself out on this one little planet?

Oh well,

Regards

Stellar

Really puts things in perspective, the size and time scales are hugely inconsistent to the human mind, bearably grasped by our intelligence. Makes one wonder when faced with it all, we could be cavemen on the beach looking out to the expansive sea and telling ourselves, 'well I see no fish therefore there are no fish in the sea'. Time is our sole judge, it seem. Only one way to be sure things are as they appear, to go there and see firsthand, we as a species crossed the ocean, and now we figured out it was less then a pond compared to the ocean of stars. It's depressing and exhilarating at the same time.

Hello all. Remember that, as someone wrote above, a seed is what becomes a tree and everything is made up of smaller things. The Universe is larger than you might think.

See: The Scale of the Universe.
