OK. Back on topic. I think this may be of interest. Could it be that if Jinn are "god's other people" or creation, that they are also called angels, seraphim, etc.? Could it be that they inhabited the earth before man? Could this be the reason for some of the huge stone structures left behind that we have not been able to explain? The pyramids, Easter Island? The stories of Cyclops?

Some traditions surrounding the jinn refer back to a pre-Adamite period when it was believed to have been inhabited by a race of beings that were much more powerful then ourselves. If the Jinn inhabited the earth prior to humans, could it be that they are the ones who genetically tampered with creation? Could this explain the minotaur and the centaur? Could this be the "wickedness" referred to in the passage below?

Is it possible that the jinn could have created humans by inteferring in the genetic structure of another animal?

In the early old testament it seems to be implied that there was a shortage of women. There seems to have been a time lapse until more females were born to humans and it was later in the development of people that the sons of god mated with women.

Were these "sons of god" the jinn?

During this period of time, the jinn built great cities and their kind covered the earth. They were in God's favor but thy transgressed and offended Him, and made wickedness abound on earth, whereupon God sent an army of angels against them and they were forced to flee the regions they once inhabited. Other stories maintain that the jinn refused to bow down to Adam, and this is the rebellion which took place. However, tradition also holds that they will remain on earth after the demise of mankind.

Every culture talks of the race of evil giants vs the gods, ie. Æsir vs Jotnar which Im most familiar with, nephilim in abrahamic faiths, aboriginals in Australia I remember, etc...

So theoretically the demons somehow mated with humans and made giants, all over the world and we gave 'em the beat down

Who are the Jinn?

First one should tread lightly when speaking of the Jinn.

Also it is one thing to read or have described the taste of an Orange (fruit/5 senses) and another to actually taste one. To speak and to do are two different actions.

The Jinn are not the Gentiles. St.Paul in the NT can explain who the Gentile nations (family groups/kingdoms) are. The Gentiles are grafted into the Tree as explained in Romans. (book after Acts)

To continue upon the question the Jinn are like a flock of birds. Or a pack of Wolves.

They are divined via Fire and Smoke in connection to the Four elements.

They Jinn have leaders. They are known as The Powers who work in the Principalities.

The Jinn are the, in a sense, under the command of the Princes of the Powers of the Air and whom can work with/in the Sons of Disobedience.

An example of the Christ confronting the Jinn would be the Demoniac whom when freed from the possession entered the swine and caused the Swine to stampede over the cliff. (written in various gospels)

From this you can see that the Jinn cause confusion.

This is one sign of the Jinn. Unwarranted, unbridled confusion in a social construct which would make no sense to an outside observer but would seem to be completely rational to those possessed.

The power of the Jinn is the power to lie and deceive.

The power of the Princes is to kill.

Remember the lesson of the one who seeks to steal, kill and destroy. Their is no logic behind the destruction unless you yourself are caught up in the mayhem.

Once you are caught up in the emotional (fire) foray and you speak (smoke) this gives the Jinn a doorway for confusion.

I think the premise of modern man that is based upon everything revolving around "man" and "Man" being the technological conquer, master, king of his domain in contrast to the Ancient mind which recognized the influence of the universe as Alive as well as every aspect of creation to be Alive and charged with energy of some sort would be a leverage-able premise to try to grasp the meaning of many ancient texts.

Here is a quick study in Jinn.

First first notice that Jesus came to the other side of the sea.

Jinn live in certain geographical areas. An modern conscious, rational interpretation of the above premise (which would be Leary's first level of consciousness) would be "DO NOT GO TO A CERTAIN PART OF TOWN" as it is dangerous or known for ...fill in the blanks...

So anyhow Jesus went to the other side of the sea. vs 1

Now it is interesting to note that the area that Jesus traveled to as a Jew in this case was to a Gentile and Samaritan area.

Also this was where the graveyard was. Many ancient Hebrews would consider the areas unclean.

Read vs two,

A man came to greet Jesus and the disciples(followers at the time/maybe not all the twelve/also women followers) as they brought the boat to shore. This man had built his dwelling among the tombs.

So these spirits dwell in areas. Geographic areas. They forced this man to live in the graveyard...why...how...the Jinn would cause this man internal trouble ( depresion/emotional pain/guilt) and they would cause less pain if the man lived in the tombs. lol

Note that the people tried to shackle the man but they could not. This man had powers that society could not control.

When Jesus "saw" the man he spoke to the man who replied we are Legion..we are many.

So we see that the Jinn have a structure. A command structure and a social structure based on a Legion...en.wikipedia.org...

Next we see that the Jinn caused this man to "cut himself".

This is a symptom of the influence of Jinn. A person at this point needs help. The modern rational mind would seek to CONFINE a person like this in the same way the society at the time of Jesus day wanted to confine the person when they tried to shackle him.

Now why could they not hold this man.

Strength?? Maybe. But also the Jinn are known as lying spirits so the man would have the ability to lie, to promise never to do ...fill in the blanks...again so the people who bound him would feel sorry for him (rightfully) but they let him go. (wrong) Unshackled him only to discover to their dismay that this person re-offended fill in the blanks.. and needed to be shackled again.

The man could not make sense of his crime nor could society...BUT at the moment of offense for some reason the crime "made sense". irrational..acts..etc..work of the Jinn.

Now if you see a crime that has this plus some "form of order" this is the Jinn with a Power. (stronger spirit)

Repeat cycle until man lives in the graveyard/garbage pit/ ghetto etc..

This person was not rational to the outside world. He cut himself and cried out. He liked the graveyard. He was very strong and " He rogognized spiritual authority and spiritual things.."

In other words the Demonic saw the spiritual leadership/authority given to Jesus as did the Roman world and the Pharisees and the Sadducee's as they would not have killed him if we was not perceived as a threat. (again Leary's first level of consciousness at work).

So without going into too much detail you will see that the Legion of Demons or Jinn asked Jesus not to send them out of the country. vs 10

Out of the country?!

Why yes. That is because the Princes of the Powers of the air control certain geographical areas. These different geographical areas are under the control of different spiritual/mental/social/mental constructs. The constructs are set up under a very wide premise with strong emotional undertones and controlled and reinforced every day as we are imprinted via our surroundings.

ie. Democracy, Communism. Socialism would all be a modern rational perspective to view our divisions rather then the ancient worlds view of Princes, Powers and Principalities...with Jinn as foot soldiers. lol

So i have tried to contrast what I believe the ancient mind would see in lie of what the modern man might see...

Also Job was buffeted by the Prince of all Jinn via the powers, principalities and princes of the powers of the air.

These Arabic Jinn might be related to the Basque giants called the Jentilak.

The jentil were believed to have lived alongside the Basque people. They were hairy and so tall that they could walk in the sea and throw rocks from one mountain to another. At some point in time they all decided to move underground and never return.

This is probably where the word Jinn came from.

There are many structures and places around the Basque Country with jentil in their name, generally referring to pagan or ancient places, supposedly built by the jentil.

I find that their main god Sugaar resembles the fire bodies of the Jinn.

I disagrSee with the idea that the Basque gods of thunder/rain..sugaar and the female entity mari are Jinn.

The word Sugaar is reflective of suge and ar...serpent and male.

The word Mari is the female who meets sugaar and during the meeting high in the mountains they cause a thunder storm.

My studies concerning the ancient ways would classify the Jinn as "troublemakers"...

The Jinn are hidden/concealed and according to some Islamic teachers Djinn can be good or bad as they are free spirits and part of the creation.

According to some the Jinn are assigned to individuals at birth.

The Persians pre Islamic culture classified the Djinn as lower then the angels

Djinn have been divided and classified in certain Islamic tradition although the idea of the Jinn existed pre islam.

Fire is also mentioned in that wikipedia article with relationship to to Suggar's name.

Nevertheless, some have pointed to the possibility that it could be another agglutination which is hidden in the word: su (fire) + gar (flame), meaning in this case flame of fire.

Maybe they are more like invisible creatures that act like animals who are in the spirit realm. Some of the UFO and hauntings stories portray these creatures as non-intelligent and goofy.

However, all of the fallen angels should be classified as troublesome as you pointed out the Djinn are. Is the 'D' silent with this spelling?
Reminds me of the Phaorah named Djoser.

He is the first Pharaoh to have a pyramid constructed. It is the step pyramid in Saqqara. While looking at that wikipedia page I notice another pharoah was named Nebka. That name reminds me so much of the USA state of Nebraska. Sorry to go off on a tangent. I couldn't help myself.

For one thing, your recommendation of "etymonline" is not a site I consider authorative or scholarly. Although I may have referenced it on occassion, I have found some things that are so skewed it becomes obvious that the site has an agenda of religious dominionism.

How anyone can jump from Gomorrah to gonorrhea and declare the association to be accurate is, as you say a "UPG" of the worst kind. Your reference source is really s-t-r-e-c-h-i-n-g to put those words together. More and more it becomes obvious that the religious dominionists are attempting to rewrite history according to their arrogance and ignorance. Again, from the theological dictionary as translated from Hebrew, the word "Gomorrah" means a "ruined heap". That's a long way from semen.

If you will notice, in my OP I am merely questioning the associations between Jinn and Gen- and asking for possibilities and whatever information people can contribute---either way. I am looking for unbiased sources in order to weigh the likelyhood of a root of origin. Why? Because I have not been satisfied with what I have found so far on my own. I do not state it as indisputable fact like the Kingdom Dominionist website you referrenced, which attempts to appear collegiate, and slants definitions in order to manipulate an agenda.
