It is no secret that Israel has nukes, everyone practically is aware of that. However, the government has not officially confirmed or denied that
fact. Moreover, I think Mordecai Vanunu officially confirmed the simple truth when he went to the British Press in 1986 to discuss his role as an
employee at a secret nuclear site near Dimona and the development of weapons of mass destruction there. The Israeli government went long and far to
gag and neutralize him. He was abducted in Italy by the Mossad and brought back to Israel and imprisoned.
He was subsequently lured to Italy by a Mossad spy, where he was drugged and kidnapped by Israeli intelligence operatives.[1] He was transported to
Israel and ultimately convicted in a secret trial.[1] Regarded by peace activists as a hero for taking a stand against weapons proliferation,[3]
Vanunu has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize multiple times.[4]
Vanunu spent 18 years in prison, including more than 11 years in solitary confinement. Released from prison in 2004, he became subject to a broad
array of restrictions on his speech and movement. Since then he has been briefly arrested several times for violations of those restrictions,
including giving various interviews to foreign journalists and attempting to leave Israel. He says that he suffered "cruel and barbaric treatment"
at the hands of Israeli authorities while imprisoned, and suggests that his treatment would have been different if he had been Jewish (Vanunu is a
Christian convert from Judaism)

So, with a response like that by the Israeli government, he was disclosing information about a very sensitive subject. If he was lying, they would
have not gone to extreme measures to apprehend Vanunu and silence him through imprisonment. Furthermore, high level Israeli government officials have
essentially said they have nuclear weapons, but while only alluding to it.
For example, first we have former Prime Minister, Shimon Peres, commenting on the nuclear weapons subject to the Jordanian Press. Some observers of
the subject claim that he has been involved with the development and procurement of a nuclear deterrent for Israel since the very beginning.
In July 1998 Shimon Peres was quoted in the Jordan Times as saying, “We have built a nuclear option, not in order to have a Hiroshima, but to have
an Oslo,”[110] referring to the peace process.

Next, we have former Israeli Primer Minister, Ehud Olmert, having the famous "Freudian Slip," when discussing Iran's nuclear aspirations, and
indirectly confirms Israel's own nuclear deterrent.
The only thing we have tried to do is to live without terror, but we have never threatened anyone with annihilation. Iran explicitly, openly and
publicly threatens to wipe Israel off the map."
"Can you see that is the same level when you are aspiring to have a nuclear weapon as America, France, Israel and Russia?" he asked.

The Iranians know that the Israelis have nuclear weapons as with the rest of the world. Hilary Clinton is not going to put an ally into diplomatic
hamstring by commenting on a sensitive subject as well as giving her remarks the official seal of the US government given her office as Secretary of
State. However, it is practically confirmed by what happened with the Vanunu case and the mention of it by high level Israeli government officials. In
other words, the cat has been out of the bag for a long time.
