I could see charging a fee or fine of $300 if the call was found to be fake or intentionally a waste of time (like the woman who called 9-1-1 because she was sure McDonalds was shortchanging her a couple of chicken McNuggets. No joke - www.myfoxdfw.com...)

But to charge for a REAL emergency call? That's BS! The politicians who proposed and voted for that horrid piece of legislation should find themselves out of a job next voting cycle.

This is just another progressive tactic to get people to vote for tax increases. They charge you for or strip you of necessities until you vote for higher taxes. All the time, they make sure there are tons of people with over paid government jobs and huge benefits so the unions will be happy.

Wouldn't it just be cheaper to call the local fire station directly.
I am not sure how we lived before 911 calls. lmao

that is precisely what people will do.

democrat solution once this occurs?

remove the phones from the firehouse.

Tracy isnt the End of the World, but from Tracy you can See the End of the World.

For those who mathematically very challenged this is just another version of the flat tax income redistribution from the poor to the rich.

No kidding.

They could also be prototyping for when they privatize the 911 service, in which case you'll see similar fees.. But, hey, it will be more "efficient" when it's for profit.
(not really)

Taxes are to pay bankers.

Fees are to provide services.

This is ridiculous...And equally as ridiculous as paying for something that we already pay for in our taxes is the thought that most of the people in Tracy are just gonna go along with this without throwing a fit. I live 15 minutes away from Tracy and am familiar with the city. It has a huge influence from the bay area even though its a "Central Valley" town.

And to the people that are saying the fee is needed to pay for services...I say BS, then reduce the level of service.

This is repugnant.
You have a crck head breaking into your house to murder, rob or rape.
You dial 9-1-1 and if you dont have a credit card and 10 minutes free to give you number your dead.

What next.. a street tax -

'Those resident wishing to use the formerly public street can now choose between paying 2000 dollars a year to go outside between 7 am and 7pm or a reduced fee or 1500 dollars for those who only wish to leave the house at night. This is payable monthly or in a one off yearly payment.'

Looks like there was a PR statement clearing up that it is not a $300 fee [tax] for each call but a $300 cost recovery fee for the actual use of emergency medical services...Tracy is just following in the footsteps of many other cities in Kommiefornia. The cost can bee recovered from ones insurance...

www.prweb.com...

Still doesn't make it right in my opinion
