Socialism is like sex.....they are both "dirty" words

People say sex is dirty and sinful, yet most healthy adults do it. Also, if it were not for sex, the world as we know it would come to an end.

People say socialism is evil and sinful, yet virtually all industrialized nations including the United States practice it in one form or another. If the US (or any other industrialized nation) purged itself of all elements of socialism, there societies would fall apart.

True, there is room for debate as to what the optimal amount of socialism in an economy really is, just as there is some room for debate as to what role sex should play in society. However, something is not bad per se just because it is "socialist" just as something is not dirty or immoral just because it involves sex.

I agree... the same can be said that to much of socialism is a bad thing also... and the other way around too!

Sex is a natural part of our make up and evolution. However, socialism is not. We live in a universe where the strong are rewarded and the weak perish, so I would say that socialism is unnatural and against the way we were designed to live. It will only weaken our species and lead to human de-evolution as it already has. If we continue on this path of more socialism the movie Idiocracy will become prophecy.

But socialism is like sex in that it feels good at first until you over do it and you wake up with herpes. That is kind of where the country is now, covered in the herpes sores of socialism. Now everyone thinks we are disgusting and we cannot find anyone who wants us anymore.

Those 50 stars on the flag are becoming red and oozing puss. Yuk!

Well The big nemesis of the US government has always been communism..but nowdays when everyone knows about it´s failure, US government need a new leftwing spooke to scaring the americans with..Socialism..its all about power over the masses..everybody knows the corps owns the US gov, but they also want to own the people, and socialism is all about power to the people by voting..so there you have it the new most scary thing in america is now socialism..

you can throw'liberal' into the mix of naughty words.

this was all done intentionally, it would seem, by those of the opposing ideologies.

it's all just propoganda wars.

the unfortunate thing about propoganda is that it works... not usually on the curious, creative or contemplative, but certainly on the fanatics, fearful and foolish.

Modern industrialized economies have evolved by adopting socialist elements. The leaders of these economies made the rational decision their society would be worse off unless certain industries were socialized. While free markets are often a great way of allocating resources, free markets often fail and are a poor way to allocate certain resources.

What you say is untrue. There is no better way to allocate resources than a free market. In a free market things and people find their true value to society whether it be great or small.

Socialism is nothing but a way for the government to have more control by teaching you to be helpless and dependent and for the them to hide the ugliness of peoples poor life choices. Not to say we shouldn't help those who are trully unable to help themselves, but this could be done through private entities who can monitor whether or not people trully need help or are just milking the system.

that is a rather bold statement to make concerning universal truths.

even in nature it is not the strong alone who survive, but the most adaptable, the cleverest, the most communal (this behavior is exibited often in primate troops), etc. survival is not based soley on who can beat up who, as though creation can be boiled down to gladiator matches.

so please do not make such blunt statements concerning universal and natural laws just to back up your political view.


PS... a true christian would be a socialist... just saying.

You are right it is not just about strength, but certain attributes be it brains, beauty, etc...

If you are adaptable and clever and not lazy you will always find a means to survive without assistance. So you are kind of proving my point.

Well communism and capitalism are two extremes on their side of idealism..but socialism is the experiment who fits in the middle of the two..

Socialism is like idealism light. That is the problem with socialists/progressives. They are unable to factor reality into the equation. They can never factor in human nature or figure out how to pay for alll of their idealistic ideas.

fair enough... yet why is the communal aspect of socialism a less viable survival mechanism then capitalism.

why such a stong taboo against socialism (the OP's original idea)?

forms of socialism exist in nature.



to reiterate... why the vitriole that some have against socialism? why does it elicit such hatred? is it not simply another mechanism to run a society, with flaws and benefits?

It is not hatred as much as it is like your father warning you not to sleep with the dirty slut down the street because he loves you and he knows what is right. Since he is a man he knows she looks attractive to you, but he is old and wise enough to realize that she is used and disgusting. So he warns you to stay away for your own good.

Socialism is like an STD. It was fun catching it, but over time it destroys your body and weakens your defenses until you finally succumb and die.

If you haven't heard capitalism is working great. It raised our standard of living to the highest in the history of the world. It is even responsible for the computer you are using to type this and why this website was created. Go figure.

There is nothing more natural in this world than sex... I have no idea why people aren't open about it!

It frustrates me a bit that people get embarrassed when they talk about it...
