Representative Kucinich was on FoxNews today spouting a “new” American job fix.
video.foxnews.com...#/v/4027382/early-retirement-a-jobs-fix/?playlist_id=87249
He suggests that people at age 60, should retire. This, he states, would open the job market for about 4 million Americans.
Perhaps the very very thoughtful congressmen forgot, that many of us lost our savings,
our retirement plans, last year! The fed mortgage, banking debacle, lead by Barny BP Frank, helped spawn the Wall St crash where many of us had our nest eggs crushed.
Add to the retirement crisis, that Social Security will soon be bankrupt.
This naive utopian socialist congressman certainly doesn’t live here on Earth!

His name is Daniel BTW

I think the guy is solid, you should change the title to reflect his correct name.

On to the utopia, well there is a whole lot of that going around these days.

I bet some people (if honest) are happy social security was NOT privatized -

I believe his is from the Planet Progressivia. It is crazy little bankrupt planet in Andromeda.

He is a nut. Does he not realize that Social Security is nearly insolvent. If anything we should raise retirement age to 70 or 75. People are living longer and are healthier at older ages these days.

Dennis may have some distraction:

Married to a woman like Elizabeth would make the Kernel's mind go gaga as well.

Look whatever Dennis Kucinich talks about is pretty solid. Before attacking his ideas maybe you should look up exactly what he is talking about, try his websites.
kucinich.us...
kucinich.house.gov...

I don't understand why people attack a man who stands up for everyday people, who honestly cares about America(ns). I don't support Ron Paul but I won't attack him, I respect him because he fights for ordinary Americans too. I don't expect everyone to like his policies but you have to admit he does fight for what he believes will help us all, not for corporate interests or elections.

I don't find someone taking my money and giving it to someone else as a person who is looking out for my best interests. If that is true maybe I should invite the guy who mugged me over for dinner with the family.

Is Dennis not for raising my taxes to pay for other peoples healthcare? Is he not for using my tax dollars to pay for people to spend their lives on welfare? Did Dennis vote against the Stimulus bills and the recovery act?

I know many of 60 year olds that would retire had a bill not been signed taking their social security to pay 20% for medicare costs. Can you believe our seniors after working for so long have to pay medicare costs out of their social security checks?

I know many 60 years olds that if they could pay their payments using just social security checks would.

I know many 60 year olds that if they could get a lower interest rate on their mortgage would love to keep their home and do nothing but retire.

I know many 60 year olds that make barely $800 a month off their social security.

So yeah let them retire if they want, but we need to address the underlying reason they are not able to retire (ie. Inflation).

Is he for raising taxes, YES! Be glad he doesn't support raising it to pre-Reagan years, how does 94% sound?

No he is not for using your tax dollars for people to live their lives on welfare, he believes welfare should only be for the worst of times and only f you are pursuing a new job, pursuing a better education or disabled.

This is 50/50. He voted no on the stimulus packages in 2008.
'First Economic Package' - HR 3997 - Voted NO
'Second Economic Packaged' - HR 1424 - Voted NO
'2009 Economic Package' - HR 1 - Voted YES
www.votesmart.org...

But he complained about the 2009 economic package because it did not do enough for work projects. He wanted something similar to another 'New Deal'.

So now we are paying peoples rent and food while they go back to school? What ever happened to working while going to college? That is what I did.

Glad to hear that he complained about the bill after he voted for it. That makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I agree 100% with his proposal! Getting retirement compensation should NOT BE over 60 years old. Never, never!!! I don't care if they have to strip the military down by 50% in the process, but never over 60...and even that is a bit old!

Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul are the only sane people left in america. Everyone else has gone off the deep-end and are sleeping with big business to rip-off the average american.

Thank you,
just edited his name to Dennis, at least that's what his web site states.

Take the Stimulus money:

1. Give $1 million to 10 million people over the age of 60. They will:

2. Retire, creating 10 million jobs. Unemployment solved, and

3. Payoff their mortgages, Housing crisis helped greatly.

This is actually someone else's idea. I'm sure I left out some good parts.

I find it ironic you would say something that dumb, when clearly republicans spend TWICE AS MUCH as democrats in office. And to make matters WORSE they spend the bulk on military infrastructure whereas democrats spend it on social reform.

Wow how nice of you! If you were president I bet you would totally dismantle and ban social security, medicare/medicaid, welfare, public schools(as pathetic as they are) and keep only the police, fire department and military.

Typical right wing nut! You actually make bush/cheney look lame.

If I were President I wouldn't need to, because they are already nearly insolvent and completely unsustainable. Time and a lack of money will cause them to be dismantled.

Yeah that is what the republicans are hoping for. They want to choke off all social services so they can spend MORE MONEY on defense contracts building underground bases and going to mars.

The democrats are not angels in a pure sense, but compared to republicans they are. Everything is relative!
