So we don't need "socialism" per se but why not introduce some happy medium: a socially conscious government that attempts to meet some modest minimum standards in basic food, housing, health and education needs of the people, one that maintains freedom of speech, protects individual rights, encourages vigorous debate and has a healthy dose of competitive capitalism thrown in?

Oh yeah !
This says exactly what I meant. Thank you !
Going to check the site Now.

Houses are all build attached to each other.
Our back yard is only 15 square meters !

Maybe as a farmer with some land ?
My grand parents used to grow all their vegetables in the garden.
My grandma tells me, when she was a kid they did it to. there were 14 of them children in the house.
Then again. When she attended school she learned the Netherlands had a population number of 10.000.000. Now ? We are heading for 17 million.

Amazing huh ?

The World Health Organization estimates that one-third of the world is well-fed, one-third is under-fed one-third is starving- Since you've entered this site at least 200 people have died of starvation. Over 4 million will die this year.

One in twelve people worldwide is malnourished, including 160 million children under the age of 5. United Nations Food and Agriculture.

3 billion people in the world today struggle to survive on US$2/day.

One out of every eight children under the age of twelve in the U.S. goes to bed hungry every night.

The assets of the world's three richest men are more than the combined GNP of all the least developed countries on the planet.

It is estimated that some 800 million people in the world suffer from hunger and malnutrition, about 100 times as many as those who actually die from it each year.
