They bring up a good point in The Cove about the health concerns about eating dolphin meat as their bodies contain a large amount of toxins as they
are one of the few near the top of the food chain and absorb it through the prey they eat.
I got to have a personal experience with LUNA similar to this one while loading Hemlock onto a barge. Luna liked our little dozer boats that we used
to push the buddles up to the barge. When we had a break in loading he would come over and stick his head out and I would talk to him and I could
tell he was trying to listen because he would tilt his head side to side trying to figure out the sound. Sometimes when he was behind me I would
floor my dozer and then turn sharply and he would chase me. You could here him squeal and he loved that game. Our dozers have a cage surrounding the
propeller so he couldn't get hurt by them. In fact he loved to scratch his belly on the keel. You'd be idle there waiting and then BOOM you heel
over a bit and look in the water and you can see his white belly.
I met Luna about 4 times and everyone was I would say almost emotional as you realize there is soo much intelligence there. The only thing not
allowing to communicate is a common dialogue. Maybe technology will help with this someday. They are amazing animals and we should be protecting all
marine mammals. We've already done too much damage now we have to let it heal.
Seeing them playing like this is a great way to show that we share something in common. Body surfing. I could do it for hours it's soo much fun.
