PRIME Minister Kevin Rudd and Japan's foreign minister have had a 'frank discussion'' on whaling after Mr Rudd signalled his readiness to take legal action on the issue.
Mr Okada indicated before the meeting that he wanted a diplomatic solution to differences over whaling, despite Mr Rudd's fresh threats of international legal action on the issue.

Finally, officially Mr Rudd is having "a frank discussion on whaling'' with Japanese Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada

On Friday 19th
link below)

[Mr] Rudd said Australia had collected video and photographic evidence about Japan's annual Antarctic hunting expeditions, threatening to take its major trading ally to court before the next whaling season".

"If that fails -- and I'm saying this very bluntly and very clearly on your programme today -- if that fails, then we will initiate that court action before the commencement of the whaling season in November 2010."

This is still sounding all Puff and no Blow. I would like Mr Rudd to flex his little trade muscle with sanctions

Threats to go to court are just that threats.

There's more talk of a diplomatic solution rather than, Stop No More Whaling.

"Specifically, what we're putting to the Japanese is to take where they are now, which is the slaughter of some hundreds of whales each year, and reduce that to zero.

In the 2007 election Mr Rudd promised to do something about this, he may just do something Now as we have another election next year?

Zelongs diplomatic solution is simple, Australia gets back into Whaling I think the limit is 1,000 a season so Australia gets half of this quota and TAGS their Whales for "Scientific Research" the following season Whales Tagged previously can not be poached When we have Tagged whales in all flote/herds/pods
they can not be approached because of the "Scientific Research" going on.

Zelong.
