Personal Liberty

1. Government has no business in regulating personal freedom that is guaranteed to all Americans in the bill of rights.
2. All people should have equal freedom. This would include eliminating affirmative action which is racist in principle.
3. We should scrap all legislation which curtails the privacy guaranteed to us in our bill of rights.
4. All people have the right to control their own bodies. This includes the freedom of family planning and abortion.
5. Each individual should have the right to refuse medications and foods prescribed by a doctor.
6. Law enforcement should only be involved in reducing crime with victims, not crime with no victims, i.e. gambling, pornography, alcohol and marijuana. This also includes the rights of all law abiding citizens to own their own handgun or rifle.
7. No more military draft, it is slavery.

Economic Liberty

1. No more taxes on the fruits of labor, which include no more tax on goods(sales tax), no more taxes on labor(income tax), and no more taxes on buildings. The government is allowed to tax non man made things such as property (only land) and natural resources.
2. No more corporate welfare. Government should not protect corporations from competition such as monopolistic types of licensing laws, not related to safety or consumer protection.
3. There should be very strong laws regarding consumer protection, such as false advertising, etc...
4. Strong workers protection. There should be strong laws against fraud in employment practices.
5. There should be strong laws against pollution in the air and water that others must use. We should also remove laws that restrict citizens from suing companies for polluting. Citizens should not have to speak to the government before pursuing court action against a company.
6. Only free trade with free countries. We should allow free trade with free countries while phasing in more freedom within our own country. We should not open our borders to free trade before our own internal trade is free from laws hindering production such as high taxes on production and hoarding of land. It should be illegal to import foreign products made by slave labor. U.S. policy on tariffs and free trade on standards of how free another nations people and labor are.

Limited Government

1. Government should only provide essential services that cannot currently be provided by the market.
2. U.S. defense should be just that, U.S. defense. No world policing. We should only be involved in a war if they attack us in our territory.
3. Government should only provide welfare when in the worst of times for people. Welfare should be a loan from the government only if you are in serious economic hardship such as unemployment, disabled and elderly. In the use of unemployment it should be a loan from the government only if you are seeking employment or gaining a higher education, this loan must be paid back only by the person purchasing the loan. For the disabled and the elderly it should be publicly provided by the government.

Well these are my ideas of how to better our nation. It is a good platform in my opinion. As you are probably wondering yes I started a thread on how I support socialism. I read up on many different ideas and came to like Progressive Libertarianism better than socialism; it still promotes many things socialism promotes just with less red tape and government involvement.

Please pick which platforms you like or dislike and tell me how you would change them.

Well I'm a Liberal Fan Boy on the worst of days lol

I agree with everything you've said.

Perhaps I would disagree with the world policing, so long as it was done with the express consent of nations which the US was operating in and done under the laws of THOSE nations, not our own.

I stated that I was a socialist.

It was at the end of my post. Actually it is classical liberalism combined with GeoLibertarianism. I am not a libertarian because I still support welfare and universal government health care.

I am what I call a staunch liberal and there are several things I totally disagree with...mostly doing with taxation and with welfare and unemployment.

Our nation is way too large and complex to say that we can cut taxes to the bare bones and still have a functional government...which is the fundamental flaw in conservative reasoning on taxation. Putting a restraint on how much money a government can raise via taxation is to inherently limit the size of government and what it can realistically do and no government wants to do that. As for privatization I personally am dead set it and especially against private involvement of key aspects of government. It is what we pay government for...if we want someone private to do it you are essentially calling on a Mafia. Not that private companies are associated with the Mafia but that was what the Mafia originally was...private groups preforming functions that the government didn't to people who were too small to notice. I am especially opposed to privatization in such things as public education and punishment.

If you had any idea how poor many of the people who seek welfare are you would rethink the whole loan notion. I am not saying that there should be welfare for all all the time but the big problem is that most state and federal welfare programs are punitive in nature as opposed to focusing on helping people become productive and self sufficient. Welfare become a trap which becomes increasingly harder to get out of. Then there are those who simply cannot take care of themselves.

Corporations need to pay their fair share of taxes as should the most wealthy. No bailouts period unless large sections of the working populous would be effected. I was not so much opposed to bailing out the car companies for that very reason but banks should be tightly regulated and expect no handouts. As for corporations there should be no loopholes. You do business in the USA you pay taxes in the USA.

As for education and health care me personally am in favor of universal public service for those who can from 18 to 21. Those who are interested in the military will always gravitate to it but it could also include Civilian Conservation Corps, Vista, inner city and country community service. This would apply to everyone who could. After which and only after which your rights of a citizen would be granted, even voting and you would then become eligible for public health care and education. Just like the veterans and maybe make veterans benefits to be a little sweeter as motivation and to make it more special.

This is what I can think of as fundamental differences.

First off let me state I am a Libertarian Democrat, which is a CLASSICAL Liberal. I do know how poor people are since we made only $10,000 this year since I am unemployed for a year now and have been poor for all but 3 years of my life.
Second, corporations would pay the brunt of taxes, a good 50% sounds reasonable to me. That, along with tariffs and property taxes would be good enough to sustain our government.

I also support universal single payer health care. I believe since government is only abliged to defend and protect people, this should also include such things as welfare and health care.
