Georgia denounces French sale of tanks and warships to Russia

www.timesonline.co.uk

Russia is negotiating a €500 million (£435 million) deal to buy at least one Mistral, an assault ship capable of carrying up to 16 helicopters and a 750-strong landing force. It has also expressed interest in three others.

Georgia’s warning that this directly threatened its security has been echoed by the Baltic states. Urmas Paet, the Estonian Foreign Minister, last week urged Paris to consider how the deal would complicate Nato’s security. He said that Moscow now labelled Nato as an enemy, not a friend, and Mistral sales would lead to a “broken security balance”.

It is not suprising the Baltic states are shouting the loudest, having been chained to the whims of Russia for the past half a decade has given them a refined sense of wariness and paranoia.

Whilst Russia upgrades its military through an unapologetically amoral France they are simultaneously selling off yesterdays destruction to eager third world countries including:

Iran >>>>>> english.farsnews.com...

(Lets just take a minute here to point out the MASSIVE hypocrisy of Israels outrage towards Russia over this seeing as they enjoy a Booming trade with Iran themselves: www.wrmea.com...)

Mexico >>>>>> story.irishsun.com...

Venezuela >>>>>> en.rian.ru...

Libya >>>>>> forums.liveleak.com...

The Baltic states are the proverbial canary in the mine, with Russias' willingness to antagonise existing boundaries being matched only by a world increasingly willing to rearm(follow the oil to see the worst offenders). At a time when cooperation is needed more than ever we stare instead down the barrel of a gun.
