TSA: Agent Flagged Wrong Passenger For Rescreening, But Person In Question With Carry-On Was Never Found

The reason for the security breach was a real doozy -- a passenger was flagged for having suspicious objects in his carry-on bag but a Transportation Security Administration spokesman said that agents stopped the wrong passenger for rescreening and the passenger with the suspicious objects got away.

"It's a crisis or tragedy waiting to happen," Rep. King said

This is the second time in 6 weeks we have had just in Newark in 6 weeks. I have a hard time believing that there are more that we just don't hear about.

The current model is simply not going to work. Too much human intervention, too many opportunities for breakdowns. Not sure what the solution is, and I doubt that there is one that is 100% secure.

The issue here is that we are not hearing about all of these incidents and that is definately on purpose. This one happened on Monday and we're hearing about it today.

This is like crime reporting. They would never publish all of the crimes that occur in your town every day. Never. If folks knew how much crime surrounded them, commerce would shut down. The same is the case with air traffic. If we knew how many incidents like this were happening, folks would stop flying.
