Is advocating the overthrow of the Federal Reserve sedition?

Can anyone tell me if the act of advocating the abolition of the Federal Reserve constitutes as sedition? If the Federal Reserve is not a government entity but acting on behalf of, then no one should be charged.

There have been 24 attempts in the United States to regulate speech that has been deemed seditious. In 1798, President John Adams signed into law the Alien and Sedition Acts, the fourth of which, the Sedition Act or "An Act for the Punishment of Certain Crimes against the United States" set out punishments of up to two years of imprisonment for "opposing or resisting any law of the United States" or writing or publishing "false, scandalous, and malicious writing" about the President or the U.S. Congress, but specifically not the Vice-President. This Act of Congress was allowed to expire in 1801 after the election of Thomas Jefferson to the Presidency. He had been the Vice-President at the time of the Act's passage.

In the Espionage Act of 1917, Section 3 made it a crime, punishable by up to 20 years of imprisonment and a fine of up to $10,000, to willfully spread false news of the American army and navy with an intent to disrupt their operations, to foment mutiny in their ranks, or to obstruct recruiting. This Act of Congress was amended Sedition Act of 1918, which expanded the scope of the Espionage Act to any statement criticizing the Government of the United States. These Acts were upheld in 1919 in the case of Schenck v. United States, but they were largely repealed in 1921, leaving laws forbidding foreign espionage in the United States and allowing military censorship of sensitive material.

In 1940, the Alien Registration Act, or "Smith Act", was passed, which made it a crime to advocate or to teach the desirability of overthrowing the United States Government, or to be a member of any organization which does the same. It was often used against Communist Party organizations. This Act was invoked in three major cases, one of which against the Socialist Worker's Party in Minneapolis in 1941, resulting in 23 convictions, and again in what became known as the Great Sedition Trial of 1944 in which a number of pro-Nazi figures were indicted but released when the prosecution ended in a mistrial. Also, a series of trials of 140 leaders of the Communist Party USA also relied upon the terms of the "Smith Act" - beginning in 1949 - and lasting until 1957. Although the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the convictions of 11 CPUSA leaders in 1951, that same Court reversed itself in 1957 in the case of Yates v. United States, by ruling that teaching an ideal, no matter how harmful it may seem, does not equal advocating or planning its implementation. Although unused since at least 1961, the "Smith Act" remains a Federal law.

Laura Berg, a nurse at a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs hospital in New Mexico was investigated for sedition in September 2005[13] after writing a letter[14][15] to the editor of a local newspaper, accusing several national leaders of criminal negligence. Though their action was later deemed unwarranted by the director of Veteran Affairs, local human resources personnel took it upon themselves to request an FBI investigation. Ms. Berg was represented by the ACLU[16]. Charges were dropped in 2006[1].

I don't believe it's sedition off the top of my head as it's not actually a direct portion of the Government and it's removal would not (inherently) end the reign of said Government.

My vote, off the cuff of course, would be no.

I vote that it is not sedition, but freedom of speech.

Also, I think the Federal Reserve system is great. I don't have a problem with it. I do think the Treasury Dept needs better oversight on Wall Street, tho. I'm tired of greed getting out of hand.

No, it most certainly is not sedition, which is defined as:

–noun
1.
incitement of discontent or rebellion against a government.
2.
any action, esp. in speech or writing, promoting such discontent or rebellion.


Advocating for an overthrow of an entity that is not, and never was a part of the Federal Government. (Look it up in the Government pages of your phone book...it isn't there!) is not sedition. It is an open discontent against a PRIVATE CORPORATION that has defrauded and ripped off Americans for too many years.

If so, I'm guilty! What happened today in Austin is just the prelude to what will happen in the near future when INFLATION starts kicking in. Already, we have a terrible job market, in fact I will lose mine in 2 weeks, and people are becoming desperate. When that gets mixed with everyone losing most if not all of their savings and purchasing power, everyone will begin to look at life in a whole new light. Those who work for the Fed had better take a good look in the mirror and decide whose side they are on.

Vocalizing support for the overthrowing of the American government is protected under free speech until the group putting forth the rhetoric has the immediate means to conduct coup. Then it becomes sedition.

So until ATS decides gets guns and marches on Washington, revolutionize away, boys [and gals]!

The federal reserve is not part of the government.Why people think it is I don't know.



According to the board of governors: "It is not 'owned' by anyone and is 'not a private, profit-making institution'. Instead, it is an independent entity within the government, having both public purposes and private aspects." In particular, the US Government does not own shares in the Federal Reserve System nor its component banks, but does take all of its profits after salaries are paid to employees, a dividend is paid to member banks that is 6% of their capital investment, and surplus is put in a capital account. The government also exercises some control by appointing its highest-level employees and setting their salaries.

I dont know any one who understands a Republic could overthrow anything. we decide on our future and we submit to it or we elect it to be changed. what this overthrow crap... this isnt a war yet~
but it will be if they continue to ignore the wishes of the people thats for sure. they thought they finally gave us enough Apple Pie and Yankee Doodle Dandy that we wouldnt notice they are turning commie pinko on us. Joe McCarthy witch hunt trials - I have my miss givenings about what was accomplished with the witch hunt but one thing is for sure... they ended up with Hollywood to promote this apple pie ... all the while they have a erected red white and blue washington monument heading for your sphinxter..
I think if we dont make major changes during the next election we will be disolved as a nation, and I'm affraid the rest of the world has already agreed to this. and that IGOR Panarin knows and is putting the idea in peoples heads that America will be broke up. now what does that mean to the rest of the 300+ million Americans - well we either form a new Republic of America or we become our creditors property and we the people dont owe the debt... so its going to be a blood bath for sure when they come to collect. me thinks and that isnt very far off... In my opinion and probably most of my fellow countrymen would say "No Sale" you can not print enough paper to buy on square inch of America. you can exchange dollars for living rights but you can not monitize America they way they want you to believe they are... you have a right but you forgot you have responsibilities that go with those rights. some times you have to say HELL NO... hence the shotgun.

No because they are separate from the government. They have said it over and over again and I am glad they did. They are on thin ice and the ice will break when the unemployment runs out.

I bet that after a large segment of unemployment runs out we will see alot of hurting families with very little options and they will be pissed off. And I don't see good things coming from it I hope it stays peaceful but when people have nothing more to lose watch out.

Whether the Federal Reserve is a public or private entity is irrelevant. Sedition only applies to legitimate governments, not oppressive regimes like the Fascist Police State of America. In fact, it's a true patriot's duty:

A giant well regulated ponzi scheme.

Its their game and we are forced to play. Once incorporated into the games your worth and power as an entity of any kind is also regulated. Subject to ajustments, devaluations, takebacks, usury....inflation, deflation, depression...many things you can do nothing about.

Probably the most comical and telling thing about all this is they require by law, passed by your representatives, that you report on yourself. Or your employer must or he cant play in the game.

But really one should not mess with this game. These folks are way worse than the mob. Worst thing you could due is wake up one day and start talking about it. For most people the war is private anyway.

It's not sedition, which is unconstitutional anyway, as has been pointed out. The Fed is NOT part of the government AT ALL, it is a private corporation. THe UNITED STATES is also a corporation.

More importantly THE IRS IS NOT PART OF THE GOVT. The IRS is merely the enforcement arm, or collection agency, of the Fed. The IRS is NOT part of the govt. REPEAT. THE IRS IS NOT PART OF THE GOVT.

Widespread tax revolt would bring the system to a grinding halt immediately. Unfortunately, most people are morons and will continue playing along with this big ponzi scheme.
