The middle third was a bit dull, yes, but overall I enjoyed the episode. Worse in what way?

It had occurred to me that they might have made the episode deliberately intending for it to not air. Powerpuff Girls isn't the first animated series to have a musical final episode that didn't air. Excel Saga comes to mind.

I've heard of it, but never seen it.

Excellent thread. I used to watch Powerpuff Girls with my daughter. When it was out she was the right age for watching it. I didn't pay attention to the stories or what the message could have been. Usually I'm more careful than that. Shame on me!! This one got past me ... I didn't even notice. (thankfully nothing was wrong with the message) It makes me wonder what other messages slipped through on other mediums that I've missed.

Censoring the last episode of a popular series? In the land of the free press and freedom of speech? Yikes. Reminds me more of the old Soviet Union, or a women's lib show in the Mideast. That the network in America censored this episode creeps in as a new low (or at least in the top 1,000) of creepy censorship news.

If someone can find and post a copy of the episode, especially that third part discussed in the OP, please do so. I actually used to watch the show sometimes, it was quite surreal and interesting.
