Fast forward to 2010 and Gingrich is promoting a second contract, except the newest incarnation was not drafted by him, party officials or political insiders. The "Contract From America" was organized by the Tea Party Patriots, an organization that describes itself as an advocate for "grassroots-generated, crowd-sourced, bottom-up call for real economic conservative and good governance reform in Congress."

The National Taxpayers Union, Regular Folks United and Liberty Central are part of this coalition of about 50 groups brought together by Tea Party Patriots that stand behind the new contract. It will be unveiled at Tea Party rallies on tax day, April 15.

Before it is revealed, the contract must be finalized, and Gingrich urged activists to help winnow the list of 22 policy initiatives under consideration to 10 by visiting the organization's Web site. The proposals range from "Demand a balanced budget" to "No more bailouts."

"It's not the handiwork of me or any public official," Gingrich said in his weekly e-mail column. "It is the genuine voice of the American people. Unlike the current political dynamic, in which the will of Washington is forced on America, this is the voice of America coming to Washington."

I am giddy to see this new 'Contract From America'.
I am a die-hard leftist so I will not support this contract but since I love politics I can't wait to see this. Maybe I can get a good laugh out of it.
If anyone has a rough draft or the actual thing please post it A.S.A.P.

LOL! Thank you for posting, and thank you for being so brutally honest about your opinions! It is a hard thing to say that you will be against a proposal for a Balanced Budget and Fair Distribution of Tax Payer's Money (i.e. "no more bailouts.")

Most hard-line left wingers do not know they are such.

Still, you have to be excited about a grass-roots, common-sense approach to law making that is endorsed by 50+ groups?

You have to be excited even that this many groups could come together and agree on something?

I am looking forward to it as well!

I strongly support a balanced budget, but I hate the Tea Parties they are joke!
When I say Hard-Left I don;t mean some communist or hard core socialist I am just a FDR Democrat, I supported almost everything FDR did except the camps for the Japanese and Germans and that stuff.

That's pretty ironic you support a balanced budget and that FDR was your favorite President. Sometime you should look up how much money was spent while he was in office. And I believe if Obama keeps up his pace on policies he will outspend every other president in office combined. So please tell us more about this balanced budget.

The Tea Partiers on Fox News may be a joke, and Sarah Palin is not our Leader!!

But, in general the Tea Partiers in your community are the Real Deal. We are a wonderful mix of Liberal and Conservative. Here in Florida, we range from Jimmy Buffet fanatic hippies to hardcore boggy boy redneck cowboys!

In general we want smaller Federal Government and less nanny-state regulation, but we also want cleaner, cheaper energy.

We want less restriction on individual rights, including gun rights, but we also want more accountability of corporations and press outlets for their actions.

We want a good Moral Rectitude in our Leaders, but we don't want a Religious Agenda dictating what is right and wrong in our personal lives.

I think you would like us if you got to know us!

The only reason he did not have a balanced budget was because of the Great Depression and WW2. If it means 91% taxes on the richest Americans so be it. We could balance our budget under his programs. I hope you aren't hinting that I support Obama because if so you are dead wrong! If not ignore the above sentence. There are only 4 great presidents in modern times and that was FDR, Truman, Ike and JFK.

I'm not going to strike you down because you showed resistence to attacking me so if there any thing you would like to say about the REAL Tea Parties I would gladly listen. But I must warn you I am a VERY die-hard FDR fan, I like alot of what you say but its' the whole; cut taxes, less regulation, limited or no welfare state that really turns me off. I am the opposite of a Fiscal Conservative, but like I said I am willing to listen and agree to any issue that we share in common or I like.

Thank you! It is nice to have a civil discussion and find some areas to agree in!
If we could extend that spirit Nationwide, we would be getting somewhere.

Honestly, I don't have a strong opinion about de-regulation, my main concern is that they choose a policy and stick with it. I don't like Keynesian Economics at all. We can't choose to regulate some and not others, or bump the market when convenient and then limit it at other times.

In many cases there is too much compromise in our government style. A lot of theories and policies are good, but when you go mixing and matching and changing on a whim, they fall flat!

When you think about it, is anybody really anti-environment? or anti-cheaper energy? or anti-freedom? We may have different paths, but ultimately the goal is universal isn't it?

Absolutely agree. If you look at the law known as 'Glass-Steagle' I think I spelled the name wrong. But it was a strong regulation of the financial market constantly, no adding or lowering regulation ever. Reagan began to kill it then Bill Clinton finished it off in the late '90s. It was enacted by FDR and stayed solid for nearly 50 years! We had huge growth in those times known as 'the golden years'. When it started to get chipped away the corporations moved in and that is the society we have today, that is why they have unrelenting power. I say we reinstate 'Glass-Steagle' in its' entirety ang get our nation back.

It's really all about the concept of 'doing to much' versus 'not doing enough'. The tree huggers tout that they are the only ones who love the environment, no one would want to see the environment destroyed except for greedy corporations and othe fat cat elites. Everyone wants to see cheap energy but we bicker on how to get it done. 99% of Americans love freedom and it really gets me when Republicans attack Democrats or others on the Left for destroying freedom when in fact throughout the history of our nation since FDR era the Democrats have been the pioneers of freedom along with libertarians of course. So it's just nonsense, it is just one side using fear mongering to attack the other, it's wrong no matter which party is saying it. Yes most things are universal, but the path to these things are not.
