Yes, once the majority vote by far is no longer a majority vote, once you need 60 solid votes verses 51, then it is a broken system.

My personal opinion...its time to use the nuclear option as mentioned by the admin.

Every complaint issue should then be met with the 2005 reference.

I understand his point, but I think abandoning ship is a defeatist attitude...especially when going nuclear will end up being the final result here.

The shock will arrive November 2010.
The GOP will need to find a NEW Speaker of the House.
Nancy Pelosi should start reading up on the rights of the minority.

While true, I think that the American public has lost its patience altogether. Even if Republicans gain majority again, it won't matter. In a few months time -- long before enough time will have passed for anything to change or improve -- I have a feeling that the general consensus will be that they haven't done enough either.

I think Obama pretty much sucked the hope out of everybody.

I think at this point, short of cash suddenly appearing in everyone's bank accounts and/or job offers falling from the sky, there isn't much that is going to appease the masses. At least nothing that will happen soon enough to prevent a revolt. Whether it's in pockets or more widespread is really the only question now.

Rights of the minority currently is...

filibuster everything, no matter what...make the public simply blame congress, and voila, 2 years later, your back in.

turnabout is fair play, dontcha think?

no unanimous supermajority = nothing passes.

Good luck

Especially when the same exact tactic used today is used then. Yep, America is dead. Stats dont lie...whats the filibuster count now? has it doubled or tripled the last 20 years combined into one session...

Obstructionism towards any and all progress is evil and a planned destruction of the republic. there should be many a cases for treason, starting with clear hypocracy.

I never thought we would see a politician admit that the system is broken the MSM and the various pundits and other politicians will be trying to downplay Senator Bayh's comments they already are doing that.

PS:sholud this thread be in the political madness forum?

Is he just figuring this out?
Only the best and brightest for us, yes sir!

Since all of us here at ATS `know' the truth, what could this man possibly be talking about?
Does anybody here really believe there is a two party system?

It was not that bad until Pelosi got control.

She has a Socialist agenda and she will do everything she can to push it through.

Evan is a moderate and always has been.He was elected twice in each office he ran for in a Republican state.

He is very aware you have to be bi-partisan to govern effectively.

I predict this.

Once the election comes and goes and the Dems lose their majority,

Holder will end up resigning as AG and Obama will nominate Bayh to replace him.

There is no two-party system all the trappings and rhetoric are all just for show it keeps people divided and keeps the naive and foolish to contribute to both "parties."While the lobbyists and politicians laugh at the American public for being so gullible.
