In 2006, the Center for Food Safety (CFS) sued the Department of Agriculture (USDA) for its illegal approval of Monsanto’s genetically engineered (GE) Roundup Ready alfalfa. The federal courts sided with CFS and banned GE alfalfa until the USDA fully analyzed the impacts of the plant on the environment, farmers, and the public in a rigorous analysis known as an environmental impact statement (or EIS).USDA released its draft EIS on December 14, 2009. THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!

It only takes 15 seconds to help our the health of our children!

I want to briefly share with you a just a FEW of the effects on animals fed GM crops.

Rats fed GM tomatos developed stomach lesions (bleeding stomachs) 7 out of 40 of them died within 2 weeks and the tomato was approved.

Rats fed GM soy had misshaped nuclei in their liver cells.

Rats fed GM canola had livers that were heavier.

Rats that were fed GM corn had problems in the development of their blood cells.

Chickens fed GM corn died at twice the rate of chickens fed non Genetically Modified corn.

Several mid-western farmers report that when they feed GM corn to their pigs their pigs have reproductive problems. Jerry Roseman a farmer from Iowa stated, “The mother hogs were going into their full pregnancies and instead of a normal litter of babies they either gave birth to a bag of water, or they wouldn’t do anything.”

Pig farmers from 25 states have reported that their sows were not conceiving when being fed GE corn. How are we to know that this isn’t caused by the GE corn, because no one is monitoring Genetically Engineered crops.

This is the first time the USDA has done this type of analysis for any GE crop. How the Supreme Court rules on this case will set a precedent for all future GE crop decisions. This is the first time the USDA has done this type of analysis for any GE crop. Therefore, the final decision will have broad implications for all GE crops.

Please it only takes 15 seconds and could define the future of our children's health.
