One thing is for sure, money will give you worldly power for as long as you live ONLY no matter how much you’ve got, after the death is worthless.

I think Mr. Karl Rabeder did the right thing, true happiness belongs to none materialistic world and I wish him true happiness.

Hello friend. I already gave most of my life's saving to my parents to pay off the house but I did not have as much money as this austrian guy. Im glad there are others like me that are willing to give back to those who truly deserve it and thats what count in real life
. $&F for the inspiration.

Isnt it ironic how in the old days everyone had a self sufficient cabin in the woods, and now only people who do are well off?

Thank you capitalist system, for these shackles called money I need in order to live, and for caring more about profit than human life.

Imagine how many people are employed to make those fancy clothes, they would then be unemployed and live off welfare. Great idea!

It's nice to own your own home, but to own one that is so huge you could fill it with a great number of people is extreme.

Yeah, carpenters, electricians sheetrockers and the hundreds of skilled laborers it takes to build those homes they too could collect unemployment, why should they have good paying jobs building large expensive houses.

Woman who spend thousands on shoes and purses etc. give me a break!

Again who needs a shoes and purses industry, those people complain about long hours and little pay, they too should be out of a job and collecting unemploment.

no person should ever be without food, shelter and education

if you can't agree with that you are truly a soulless and self centered person who only cares about themself

who profits from this dependent of currency? the billionaires who want to live a life above the "commoners" the whole system is designed to reward a select few and leave the rest slaving day and night for the rest of their lives in hopes of giving their children a shot at living

i can't wait for the day machines finally do everything for us so we can remove the need of it once and for all and allow us to involve our time with stuff we actually enjoy or learn from rather than mind numbing labor

if you think someone needs or should ever have use for 10,000 dollar pair of jeans or jewelry or embrace a system where people such as bill gates can get more money then the country of Peru and never spend more than half of it in 20 life times

you only support a system which is based upon greed, nothing more.

that man's gotta be insane...unless there's some steady income coming from somewhere, at his age, starting over from scratch is going to be nightmarish

hey, what's the deal against fashion here?... I mean, Ok, there's a lot of millionaires that dresses on Armani, D&G, Prada... but also a lot of people who actually lives from making those fashion apparel... as me and the others on my area. I'm a fashion design student and I pretend to make a name in the fashion world someday... Not to earn zillions of dollars but to be successful with my art! Now I feel like I'm doing something bad

As for me, I can live with the minimum. It always have been that way. I don't own a single piece of fashion from my fav. fashion designers because sometimes I don't have enough money to buy materials for college or to buy my medicines (I have some thyroidal issues), I'd love to, but sincerely now I have most important things to do with the low amount of money my mom sends me (This damn career is so consumptive, I can't handle a part time job).

Anyway, dressing in cheap chinese made clothing and all I'm happy with my life. I just want to reach people with my art someday... IDK if winning lots of money or not. That's my real goal. I don't mind living eating just plain rice for the rest of my life if i reach that.

Now, on topic, money really don't make happiness. I've meet some cases of rich and very depressive girls that never understood why I'm happy living with a minimum wage. and also have meet very happy rich people. Happiness is a state of mind, and doesn't depend of your wealth. Of course I'd be a little more happy if I didn't had monetary issues every month, however I'm still happy

Decadance every time my friend

Being poor isn't the answer either. How can you help others when you can't help yourself? If you were blessed with wealth, just remember you are only a steward. We all leave this world just the way we came.

Yeah, bald and wrinkly, unable to talk and covered in crap

Seriously though, I think there are better ways for this guy to help than give all his money to charity. Why not just set up a system with the bank, whereas a percentage of his earnings is seperated, so he can live a more simplistic lifestyle, like the rest of us and the rest can go to the charity.

I've been poor, hell, I'm not exactly wealthy now, but I can assure you that I'm a lot happier and less stressed today, being able to pay my bills and buy food and socialise with my friends than I was when I struggled to do any of these things.

It doesn't make you happy when all of your friends are involved in an activity that you cannot participate in because you can't afford it. It doesn't make you happy to get your electricity or gas cut off because you can't pay the bill and it doesn't make you happy eating nothing but plain rice or pasta, because it's about all you can afford to buy.

Money might not make you happy, but poverty makes you downright miserable.

In my opinion, this guy is a fruitloop. I hope he does starve. I hope he gives away all his money, his wife leaves him, his children hate him, and he goes absolutely crazy bonkers!

Giving away money is not the answer.

I am sure there are many Christians on this website that are thinking thank God!

It is written and they all know that Greed gets you nowhere, usually hell instead of heaven!

I know this as I have seen it many time, my ex Wife even got greedy and in the end, got nothing, zero!

There are probably lots of non Christians reading this too thinking I am spouting nonsense but would you want to take the risk? I would rather be good and if heaven does exist, get there and be rewarded. Not think, oh, I wish I had listened and been good, too late then isn't it!

his act is greater expression of his selfishness he mentions; i have no pity for him.why along his travels did he come to the conclusions he did and to make ends meet he decides to support the same system by recreating it where he deems it necessary.he should have just given it to wealthy people to make the disparity greater; thus provoking a true "change" rather than a revolution of same outcomes.

Money doesn't make happiness, but it's damn easy if you have some of it.

My first thought when I heard about this guy was "wow, he's going to be so happy when he had nothing to eat for a few days and then finally tastes a sandwich again"

This is my opinion, but if you have to give everything you own away in a search for happiness, then you truly have no clue what happiness is all about.
I don't applaud this man for what he did. If he wanted to make a change then he could have used his fortune to do something more productive in this messed up world and make a change, that would give him more satisfaction and happiness then living in poverty...

Yeah, live in a normal house, eat normal food, no silly expensive wine, handbags that cost thousands or a silly label on an item of clothing that means it costs thousands.

Live a normal life and the millions left, give some to a childrens home, buy a burger for the homeless man, pay for the abused kids to get out into a nice family home.

That will bring you happiness seeing and making others happy, it works because I do it myself!

It might be noble though, but think of it this way:

the guy is walking around south africa, he sees how the people are living day to day on really low wages, so he gives some random person $50,000. all he has done is transfered his "problems" to the guy he is giving money to.

If he wanted to make the biggest impact with the smallest foot print he could start up a non profit that sneaks into peoples driveways at night and stealthily washes peoples cars or something. Useless, I know, but so is most of the crap people with money buy.

This whole "I have too much money" mentality REALLY pisses me off. If I was ever given the chance I would buy things until there was nothing left to buy. I guess that makes me shallow, but I have been my whole life using things that have restricted me. Using crappy audio gear for my bands, driving older cars that never work right, and I have a pretty good life, and my struggles are pretty mundane, so all I can hope is that the money goes to people who actually need it.

Is all you can talk about is people collecting unemployment and other crap? Why do you generalize everyone into the same stereotype just to fit into your narrow minded thinking of life.

Not everyone is as fortunate and well off, imagine if you were laid off, and couldn't find another job in time of bills that have to be paid, or children that need to be fed, you might be living off *gasp* UNEMPLOYMENT!

Take a second and think, you think of yourself as an individual, why can't anyone have the same liberty as you in your mind? Humans are unique because they can adapt, making new jobs shouldn't be hard for a desperate economy, people are just too lazy to get off their comfortable asses.

Did you know, in one of my high school trig classes my teacher and I worked with the math and actually figured out that if you had just 1 million dollars and put that money in a savings account with interest, it doesn't need to be high interest, you could live comfortably off the interest alone off the account and never touch the million!

I know that's all I would ever want, to live comfortably doing the things I love, like volunteering and painting. Most people want multiple millions a year, all I would need is that 1 for my life...

So if anyone is in a giving modd.....hahaha just kidding... x)

HAHA; might as well be giving up paper, because that is all it is and money only has the power of paper. The only worth money has is the worth our mind has given it.

Just don't charge an arm and a leg for one item then. There's nothing wrong with being a fashion student. I'm a game student, I'm not in it necessarily for the money in video games, but to get others to enjoy my art.

The only bug I have against the fashion industry is the raking up of the price of a piece of cloth used to keep you from getting arrested for public indecency...xD yeah yeah, it's an art form, but you find that if you lower the price just a little, you could catch a bigger audience and actually sell more clothes.

Ooops, now i'm just ranting..haha
