Just got the New Motorola Droid

I already love it

Just looking to get some suggestions for APS, either free or even some of the pay ones that are cool.

I have a few already like the Compass, GPS and Flashlight AP

Any suggestions?

Rhoids, yes. Droid, no. Sorrier than you know. In the meantime, anyone have any suggestions for increasing fiber intake? Maybe that could be an app.

Congrats!

I did a lot of research to get from a Treo 700p to a Droid and I like the thing a lot.
This particular generation of smart phones is quite a moment in history. It's no longer just a phone. It's no longer a smart phone.

It's a media player.
It's an alarm clock.
It's a GPS.
It edits documents.
It takes pictures and video.
It records audio.
It streams audio.
It's a specialized tv.

That aside, here are my favorites:

Panda Home (Home replacement)
Advanced Task Killer
A Online Radio
Cherry RPlayer
K-9 Mail
TV-Guide
Dolphin Browser
Astro Player
AK Notepad
G-Strings (guitar tuner)
iMusic (stream/download)
QuickUninstall
Timeriffic (set on-off times and profiles)
Ringdroid (ringtone editor - mp3 only)
ChompSMS

androidforums.com is the place for info on this phone. Some of those people are freaks

Happy Droiding.

P.S. You can turn the GPS off. There are a lot of things that can make it more secure. It's pretty privacy-invasive out of the box.

Yeah, semperfortis.

I have a suggestion!

Someone make an ATS or BTS application. (mutter too)

Seriously.

Sorry I couldn't suggest something real.

I tried Chomp SMS, better to go with HandCent, you have to pay but it's not much, and if you're a big texter like me you'll love it.

Also for like 99 cents you can get a SOHO app, it's called "Solar Max"

A must have is the Caller ID Faker, it's free and allows you to call people, and they don't see your phone number but a fake one, and you can make it any number to show up, i've been calling the local priest with a caller ID of 666. lol

Ringdroid, its free and you can make custom ringtones.

MotherTed, Its a TED app for all the videos, another must have.

Phandroid to see all the updates and cool stuff going on with android.

DroidCoupons, for all the free stuff going around your town that your missing out on.

and lastly BBC News.

I have the MyTouch 3g, but we all run off the android market...

I regret not getting the Droid

---Oh yeah and if you can shell out a few bucks you have to get Word to Go.
It's word docx excel dox, powepoint docx. and another one, must have if you're a business person or college student whose got to get work done on the go. I paid like 29.99 for it, but now its 9.99 on sale.... ugh!

Oops, one more!

Google Sky Map.

It's a few degrees off albeit, but very nice, just point your phone anywhere in the sky, and see what constellation that is, what planet, what star, and much much more!

And if you don't want to buy those expensive science calculators, you can just install the free apps of em.... makes life that much easier.

I just downloaded a bunch of those, now tomorrow is shot. I'll spend the day figuring out how to use them and playing with them.

Honestly be careful, the day I got my Mytouch 3g, I spent the whole day playing on it, and no joke, no kidding at all, I couldn't move my thumb at all for two days, it was in awful pain, moderation should be advised!

I'm so jealous, I want the droid but it's too much for me I'd have to throw down tmobile, ruin my credit, then go to verizon, but the droid is running 2.1 while i'm on 1.6! I don't even have multitouch ( unless the OTA update it)

Make sure to get what that guy suggested, Advanced task killer and it's bar, it'll speed up your phone by ending all the tasks, otherwise your phone will lag like crazy!

Oh and something that you may be interested in, that is ONLY available for android phones.... you can't get it on the market but if you google it on you phone you can download 'MiKandi'.

It's a worthless app, but just nice to know that you have something the pretentious Iphone owners will never have!

I'm sorry for going on and on.

Don't forget, it costs like 1.99 USD, but get 'Better Keyboard".

You can get and customize any keyboard you want, I advise the Oil Slick...

Nonetheless you'll like it, Better Keyboard for sure!!

Can you make it a little bigger?

I have big fingers and find the keyboard, while the largest I have seen, still a little small..

Do you mean the onscreen keyboard?

I know at a basic level that if you flip the phone on its side the keyboard is a bit bigger.

I haven't seen anything on the market for a bigger keyboard, but there is a new patent on a keyboard, which should make typing on it much easier, with much much less errors.

Till then, just flip the screen
