European Union denies US snoops access to electronic banking data

axisoflogic.com

A U.S. push to legally access data generated by Europe's electronic banking activity has been rebuffed by EU lawmakers in a vote of parliament, according to published reports...

U.S. diplomats in Brussels called the move 'a setback for U.S.-EU counter-terror cooperation,'" Dow Jones Newswires noted.

The U.S. National Security Agency (NSA), however, have been examining Swift data since 2001, even without EU permission. When this fact was revealed in 2006, the U.S. was threatened
with sanctions.

The U.S. government just keeps winning friends and influencing people all over the place in the name of "counter-terrorism efforts."

In this episode we find that our government officials were snooping into the bank accounts of the E.U.'s citizens without the E.U.'s knowledge from 2001 until they were caught in 2006 and threatened with sanctions.

Since then, they've been allowed to continue under certain security restrictions. But the European Parliament says, "no more."

The counter-terrorism community never saw such a gift as that which was bestowed upon them on September 11, 2001. It was a most successful means through which one could engage in criminal activity and call it legal.

The American citizens are always the last to know when unscrupulous acts are being committed by those acting on behalf of their country. Apparently, the U.S. believes a good way to foster positive relations with other countries is to spy on their citizenry.

I suppose we are to assume that many terrorists have been thwarted due to these spying efforts.

I believe that the EU, in the name of the very same U.S.-EU counter-terror cooperation, asked for equal access to U.S. banking data, but the U.S. said "no way".

A good way to kick them out would be to start by shutting down their military bases which can be found from the UK all the way to other side of Europe in Greece.

If the US were that concerned about any financial shenanigans, they'd start a little closer to home, with all those Bahamian banks, so favoured by the jetset and coke equipped.

Perhaps though, that's just a little too close to home!

The EU is the global snooper in chief. It is an incredible shame that the EU has actually reached the point where it allows member states to steal post from its EU citizens, and to keep it away from the rightful owner/receiver of the post.
All of this is done secretly by the EUROstasi/gestapo like criminal kommissars running the clownshow in Brussels. This is of course an absolute disgrace and obviously indicates the state of decay and decadence of the EU project. All the EU seem to be good at, is the violation of its own principles, and in this soup the EU will boil.
