So is president Barack Obama a socialist? Hear it straight from the horse's mouth, Brian Moore, leader of the American Socialist party interviewed on Colbert Nation back in October 28, 2008.

[yvid][/www.colbertnation.com...[/yvid]

Priceless!!!

You know, I'm going to say something no one is going to agree with.

Nothing is wrong with socialism.

Well if taxing the rich is socialism...we've been a socialist country for a very long time.

It was 91 percent on the richest when Eisenhower was President and has consistently gone down since then.

So we are "less" of a Socialist country now than we were back then.

Another amazing note:

91 percent tax on the rich.....COUNTRY STILL WORKED. People still worked. The economy was OK.

I know...it's INSANITY!!!

Nothing is wrong with socialism.

Government IS Socialism. The United States has always been BOTH capitalistic and socialistic. It's when the balance weighs to far to either side is when things go to hell.

I disagree it is not a good system. History has shown that it always fails and leads to much worse things like a oligarchy. And true socialism does not exist it is actually a oligarchy or communism. A republic ruled by law is the best way to go and our founders new it. They new the evils 300 years ago and we are still trying to figure it out now. We should all take a look at the writings of the founders.

Be interesting to see top twenty countries , standard of living, and see how

many would be classed as Socialist.

List of countries by Human Development Index

Yeah, Socialism seems to be working out pretty well for most of the countries that utilize it.

Also, it's worth considering that, as David pointed out, we do have Socialism in the US. We are, however, lacking many of the social programs that help to raise the standard of living so significantly in countries that choose to provide such programs.

I don't think obama is socialist
I think he has his own type of ism and it obviously doesn't work.

America has a great constitution that workes pretty darn good
when not being trashed by crooks like obama, pelosi, reid and others.
They are ruining America in every way I can think of and must be stopped.

Yes, yes I know they didn't start it but hopefully we can get people in Washington that are on the side of American citizens before it's too late; if it isn't already ...

Oh dear, seems like "communist" Norway is doing OK in the ranking:
en.wikipedia.org...

But then again, we are just socialist democrats, so perhaps it doesn't count?

Brian Moore is throwing dust into the wind. The Progressive (President Obama and others from both side of the isle) comes from Socialist roots. So Mr Moore could easily be trying to dissuade viewers of the similarities so as to keep the Progressive ideologies moving forward without the alarm bells ringing. Sure there are surface differences, (there always are) yet the underlying causes (the factors that drive people to carry out ideas) are the same. Those same causes are distorted the same ways by people with power. So maybe one isn't as bad as the other...but I wonder.

What is the meaning of 'progress'?

As for the list of countries by human development index, can anyone tell me how many of those in the top 20 don't have universal health care?

Dont forget to also look at how "free" its people are.

Socialism is a direct threat to freedom.
