WHAT!!!!

This is BS... i thought these scanners came about so drastically because of the Fanatics who were trying to kill us all and now Muslims may be exempt from going through scanners.... what BS!!!

Can't have special treatment here.... if i have to go through these scanners so will they... simple as that... if i'm stopped on my next flight out of here i shall put in so many complaints that the staff will quit!!

The real reason these scanners where installed is to stop the Islamic fundamentalists getting on board. Now they're saying, "If our fundamentalists cant get through, none of us will!"

Just a thought.

All of this has nothing to do with terrorism. It has to do with humiliation and degradation of the populous.

Go cattle to the slaughter.

I completely agree, this has nothing to do with safety, it is purely a pyschological excercise. Our governments are letting us know that they are totally in control and can force us do something that we have been taught is shameful and embarrasing over the years. They are also sending a message that our kids are subject to them too. We all know paedophiles deserve to be punished for what they do but our governments can employ people to sit and look at naked images of us and our children in airports

The feeling of humiliation and powerlessness comes from knowing that some anonymous trained monkey, in an unidentified room will be viewing what previously only a lover or a doctor would have been able to see only with your consent. The choice element is removed because the only two outcomes (fly and be scanned or don't fly at all) are decided for you

I'm sure someone will accuse me of being some kind of prude that is afraid of nakedness and thinking that the world is full of perverts but that's not the case. However liberated we claim to be, thousands of years of social and religious conditioning has shaped our thinking. The fact that the pictures will not be linked to individuals is not the point either, the psychological conditioning that the scanned person undergoes is.

What you say is very true about 'psychology'... back when i was 18 i was stripsearched at a police station for literally doing nothing at all except shake some guys hand at a train station... just so happens that the Police thought i was dealing drugs (their excuse anyways).... was very embarrassing at the time and i still think about it every now and then as something that was very wrong for them to do... if it happened today i would sue the Police dept for wrongful arrest and disrespect!!

The reason why we are subjected to searches in airports is because of Islamic Jihad. Now the same muslims that blow up airplanes in an effort to spread Islam and appease their deity, Allah, demand special treatment and exemption from the structure they created.

It is taqiyya and the Camp of Islam needs to be called on it.

All muslims need do is renounce Jihad in all forms, eliminate the death penalty for apostates, and eliminate sharia law and all this will end. But it will be hard to quell the 1,400 year old example set by Mohammed.

Until then, if muslims don't like the scanners, then muslims can stay of the planes. We will all travel more quickly and safely as a result of their absence.

My significant other got picked up traveling from Melbourne-Launceston twice.

He said they had a box on the desk with a wand type thing attached to it. They waved it in his laptop bag and over him.
It got the better of him on their 2nd go, he asked what they were checking for and they told him explosives.

Anyone seen/know anything? I'm not a flying person and haven't seen them.

(He doesn't look scary, but the hat and sunnies are a permanent fixture.

put the scanners at ferry terminals aswell because if the muslims cant blow up the planes they will start blowing up the ferries....
a car bomb on a ferry would be worse than a plane crash...

also might stop the immigrants...

Is it true that they will be offered a pat down option in the USA?
How can this be true? It makes no sence.
If it wasn't for the muslims we wouldn't have to have the expensive and personal privacy invading scanners to begin with yet they get pat down option?!
Why bother with the scanners then?
It just doesn't make sence ..

So let me get this straight:

Everyone on ats is up in arms over the scanner because they are a complete violation of privacy. There are concerns they will be used for the wrong purposes. That security is getting out of hand.

But because Muslim people are up in arms over the scanners because they are a complete violation of privacy, and against their religion, the Muslims must be up to something, and have nefarious plots.

Is that all it took for them to stop flying?
Geez, why didn't someone think of this before?
How cool is that.

kudo's for you....

Wouldn't it be a cool stunt to completely undress yourself before going through the scanner[acting unsuspecting], like to see those faces..

btw if the muslims all want these special privileges why dont they all fly together in one plane? leaving us alone...then they can bow 5 times, eat halal and do all the things they do on a plane....

I'm an athiest and I don't want stangers looking at me in the nud so it's hardly a shock that religious conservatives (muslims, christians etc) don't want to be electronically stripped down either.

Then again if you say no to this the alternative is getting felt up instead..

Well I agree with you, personally I am no Muslim, I don't even believe or support any organized religion, and when comes to scanners, I see them for what they are, pornographic machines to satisfy the sick and derailed desires of those that are sitting behind them looking at naked bodies of other human beings, while a few fat rats that created them are profiting from that pornography, and for those that will be pushing children into this scans they are also nothing but pedophiles disguise as security, the denigration of society while prompting pornography in the name of security, the terrorist won a long time ago, is just that dump people have not gotten the whole reality yet.

I imagine that you also believe in the easter bunny and that Santa lives in the north pole.

Get a reality check, this scans are monitored by people.

This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Ok , so they foist on us a gadget that makes any hint of dignity we ever had dissapear at the blink of a camera shutter, then they make laws which mean you cant get on a plane if you havent been scanned, THEN they exempt the very demographic which would be the intended target of this device from being required to use it???
Thats clever that is. Im getting a bit cheesed off with this nonsense.

Good for the Muslims
I'm all for them having to remove their disguises(face covers) in public, but having them(or anybody) submit to a virtual strip search is going too far without probable cause.

These virtual strip searches will only lead to body cavity concealed bombs/devices and other ways of defeating them. Then what? Then an even MORE invasive screening device? Bah, let them get their virtual porn somewhere else. And these virtual strip searches will apply to children? How sick. Screeners should be charged with kiddie porn.

My problem with all this , is that if something is the law in this country then I have to abide by that law, on pain of punishment , and the removal of my liberty if my crime is severe enough to warrant it. But if a muslim breaks the law, and it can be considered that he did so in the practice of his faith, any legal action on the part of the state is met with a religious rights abuse scandal.
I tell you what, Im a Christian. From study of my bible, I recall that it is every Christians duty to spread the word of Jesus and bring his light into the lives of everyone I meet. In order to fulfill that oath, I want to preach on a street corner, and I want to say things like JESUS IS LORD, PRAISE HIS NAME ! EVERLASTING GLORY TO GOD, THE CREATOR OF MAN,AND ARCHITECHT OF THE UNIVERSE ! Do you know why I do not do those things? Because the law says that I must not, because it may offend those of other faiths. But people from other faiths may practice thier ways without hardship from the government! So why is it one rule for me , and another for muslims? I do not understand.
